What?
Clinkz has always been a good pick.
He's really bursty once he gets Orchid, so he can roam and pick off supports with ease, he does impressive damage to towers, and he can screw with Chen something wicked.
He's no firstpick/ban material, but he's a useful hero. He has a tendency to disappear off the competitive map, but that's more down to people playing favourites. Mouz Black is pretty much bringing him back though.-

Again, I am totally down for just running through some practice or bot matches just chatting away on the mic or text telling people all about how to play.

Yeah, Invoker is FAR from the hardest hero in the game.
He's pretty easy, simply because he's so powerful. He's a ridiculously strong laner thanks to Quas.
The thing is, until you get Scepter or max Invoke, you're not going to be casting more than 3, maybe 4 spells in any given engagement, and you can often get away with 1, especially if it's Cold Snap.
About the only hard thing about Invoker is pulling out spell combos while also keeping your orb composition right for maximum self benefit.-

That's a totally sensible course of action from DS & Windrunner.
Ganking the Jungle blind while 4 heroes are missing from the map is a surefire recipe for failure.
Especially when two of them have on-demand invisibility and can be following your every move.
P.S. Terrible supports blame bad teammates, good supports make their teammates great.-

I thought it was a mana sink way back when in the before times, when it was widely regarded as one of the worst skills and something you skill levels 22-25.
Since the multitude of buffs, this is no longer the case.
It's ESPECIALLY good in the laning phase.
It doesn't matter if they are the king of last hitting if you cast it on them as a wave expires. They're forced to take a considerable amount of damage without any chance of removal.
It doesn't force anyone to attack you at all though.
It might force them to burn some mana to ensure they kill a creep, but they won't ever turn around to kill you unless you are literally the only thing in reach and it's actually slightly possible that they could kill you.
The major downside is that it's still expensive as hell on a hero with mana issues, but that's why Arcane Boots were invented. Tranquils and a Soul Ring could also suffice.-

This is a Public Service Announcement:
Learn how to play Storm Spirit, and then go play him in a dozen matches. In the mid game he's a decent ganker with a lot of mana issues and big jukes, but if you get him farmed in the late game, oh boy.
Storm Spirit with 60+ mana regen per second is the most fun you can have in DotA. Leaping from your fountain to your T3 towers deals 900~ magic damage to everyone, and you'll have enough mana to spare to get clear and do it again in another ten seconds. Not to mention the fact that you are completely inescapable if they have to retreat. He is the stuff of nightmares for anyone looking to pull back from a siege.
All of this with one of the best personalities in the game. If you haven't played Storm Spirit, you are missing out on an amazing part of DotA.-

Oh yeah, I'm Invoker. Badass on the lane. Let's go gank that Jungle with illusion rune.
Excellent, a puny Ursa to crush. Learn how fragile you are!
Dang, he got up the ramp with 150~ hp. No matter, I'm faster than him, and much smarter.
Time to just walk up this blind ramp and SFGJFHGGFBEAREATINGMYFACE-

Ok.
I've done it.
I've found the most fun carry in the game.
It's Clinkz.
You can solo, or you can roll with a partner. Either way you get good farm, but with a partner you can also kill heroes. You spend the first 15~ minutes farming creeps and harassing the enemy, and then you finish your Orchid.
For most carries, completing their first major item means even more farming and maybe a bit of ganking on the side. For Clinkz, it's means it's time to change from farming creeps to farming heroes because you can now kill anyone 1v1 and you roam the map at max movespeed. You then spend the rest of the game alternating between visiting the jungle to eat a creep for your ulti and sprinting around the map looking for poor saps to incinerate.
Basically Clinkz is the strongest hero in the game at level 16, with utterly insane hp and dps. He can take on anyone and is vastly underrated as a murder machine. Ever since his ultimate rework he has been grossly powerful.-

Blink Dagger is obvious as hell, with the flurry of particles and the distinct sound. In post 192, Timeater wrote:3. yes. BLINK DAGGER BARELY MAKES A SOUND AT ALL. RE.TARD.ED. ITS BARELY NOTICEABLE. EVERY ABILITY SOUNDS THE SAME. Compare with some of the newer hon sounds, "Hey, guys look what I got" - "I loooooooooooove me some creeps!"
Basically the only difference is you don't need to drag out the flying courier to counterward jungle camp blocking wards. In post 192, Timeater wrote:4. warding is restricted, cant really ward freely and it really limits the gameplay
Except all 5 players on both teams can go for the rune. And if the enemy mid goes for the rune, they get no creep blocking. It makes for interesting clashes at 0:00. The runes are a roulette system for mid anyway, because no particular rune is guaranteed. In post 192, Timeater wrote:5. minus. its bad. its basically a roulette system for mid. i shouldnt have to explain this
Well, first of all, there's nothing stopping it from being removed in DotA1 because that's not a limitation. Secondly, the secret shop being where it is makes map control that bit more important. Games have been won thanks to control of the secret shop.In post 192, Timeater wrote:6. its bad. unecessary arbitrary mechanic that long outstayed its welcome and is only in the game as a holdover from dota 1
I would love to hear which heroes you think are broken. In post 192, Timeater wrote:(though some are ridiculously broken, boggles my mind that dota players get on a high horse about balance)-

Venomancer can solo Rosh at level 7. So can half a dozen other heroes. It's not an amazing accomplishment.
Ursa is considered one of the weaker heroes, and for good reason. He's a burst damage hero, except:
He's melee
He has no stuns
He has no movement abilities
His only slow is melee ranged
He relies on his skills to do any damage
His ultimate, which he relies on to stay relevant past midgame, requires him to be at full health to be effective
If he's forced to change targets for any reason his damage output plummets to the ground
He's good at stomping bad pubs because they are retarded and walk into his waiting claws.
HahahahahahahahahahahahIn post 200, DTMaster wrote:He's a Glass Cannon in the sense a good few nukes will obliterate his poor hp (even with death pact buff)
Oh god.
You've never played Clinkz, have you?
With his ultimate up, Clinkz has more HP than any other hero in the game. At level one it gives +550 hp, ramping up to +880 hp at level 3. It's insanely good.-

3 new heroes, Gaben has clearly been 'enhancing' the coffee supply in order to get the full CM pool for the international.
The fix to neutrals is a pretty big one. They don't simply stand there when taking damage from invisible heroes anymore. Jungle Pudge & Jungle Storm just got a lot weaker. Jungle Dark Seer is still totally executable though.Last edited by Darox on Wed Jul 25, 2012 1:15 pm, edited 1 time in total.-

The real reason Centaur hasn't been ported is because he is a filthy STR hero.
Look at the timeline of hero ports. They are overwhelmingly Int favoured. This is kind of fair, because Int heroes also dominate the competitive scene[Ahahahah INT heroes don't scale well that makes them useless ahahah why would anyone pick int heroes if you can't buy items to increase the power of their abilities pffthahah what a crazy world]but Valve have gone overboard in their Int favouritism. The only Int heroes not ported are Skywrath Mage (Freshly released, not in -CM) and Techies (HIGHLY controversial hero), both of whom were basically confirmed bottom 5 material.
Meanwhile there is still a decent number of Agi heroes still untouched, and a huge cluster of Str heroes who don't even have concept art, even when you ignore the ones who aren't in Captains Mode.-

Pudge has more potential tank. He kinda autowins fights like this thanks to uncapped flesh heap.
Also Medusa, Alchemist, Bristleback, and to a lesser degree Abaddon, Skeleton King & Dragon Knight.
And again, Centaur is Cyclone-Tier. He's a hero who is annoying enough to not want just hanging around, but he's not important or squishy enough to want to kill. He's an AoE Stun and some autoattack damage.-

Reddit DotA2 Trading subreddit, for one.
But pretty much anywhere Steam trading is going on you should be able to find someone willing to trade a DotA2 invite for significantly less than the 40$ bundle in the store. It won't come with any of the extra items that the bundle has, but again, significantly cheaper.-

Brewmaster - Noted bad hero with extremely high micro requirements.
All three of your pandas are selected immediately with Earth given priority and if you get them all attacking your desired target while casting hurl boulder every time it's off cooldown you are in the top 90% of Brewmasters. He is easy as shit to play.
Also Clap is very strong and Haze is very good at shutting down autoattackers. Plus as noted, he has great strength base/growth and literally all of his abilities make him harder to kill, which is fantastic for any new player.-

You don't know how attack speed works. In post 1038, TheButtonmen wrote:Huskar nerf is actually really noticeable and hurtful.
By level 11 you're looking at 15 less agility which costs you two armor and 15 base attack speed both of which are actually a severe hit to Huskar as suddenly he's that much easier to kill with physical damage and the 200+% AS steroid on Bezerkers blood means the 15 base attack speed lost is suddenly costing you aronnd 1500 gold worth of attack speed items.
15 agility gives the same IAS as +15% AS. 15 AS = 15% AS, they don't affect the BAT or base attack time of a hero.
Losing 15 attack speed is very noticable but it isn't having a exponential effect. Unlike Spirit Breaker who got his BAT nerfed.
