Thanks for playing the first iteration of this setup, everyone! Putting together night actions and the threads in a second here.

I'm specifically interested in commentary on the setup, a modification to the original Hard Boiled.

At the very least, I fully plan to remove the Mafia Jailkeeper's ability to kill and jail at the same time. The mafia never actually utilised this ability, so it had 0 impact on balance this game, but in general it nerfs the Tracker.

It was a game well played in my opinion (although some parts were indeed toxic, and I don't blame anyone for that). I think the setup is cool as well, although I don't know much about this balancing stuff....

The Jailkeeper + Hider + Tracker/Vig creates a lot of night possibilities imo.

Like, if someone picks vig for example, later in the game they need to be extra careful about not killing the hider, what could end up with a night killing 3 townies at once.

Hmmm, to be honest I think it's hardly beneficial picking vig here if not for some policy vigs or in the hands of player with outstanding reads.

FWIW, I don't think any other lynch was actually possible that last day given people's reads. N_M probably won the moment Alonzo was lynched.

Shouts out to my 1859 boys pinturicchio and Oxy, who I thought played particularly well this game. Your collective fatal flaw (which I still don't quite understand) was the assumption that my meta on N_M from Pick Your Poison made him town here. I thought this was one of the most solidly scum-meta games N_M has ever played . He, as scum, only quickhammers everyone when people give him permission.
i.e. if you say "N_M will quickhammer as either alignment" he will quickhammer when he's scum because he knows you won't scumread him for it

the worst and jjh927 were absolutely fantastic, but unfortunately got themselves nightkilled. I think jjh could've done a lot more with a Vig role; it was bad luck swapping into a Tracker after randomidget already said N_M was probably scum! N_M getting vigged N1 would likely have won the game.

Tbh N_M getting lynched at any point during the game would likely have won the game. IIRC people assumed he wouldn't get bussed as a jailkeeper (not an unsafe assumption), but left out the idea that N_M generally gets bussed no matter what (I would know >.>).

Iconeum, CJV, and Alonzo are all people I'd have considered lynchbait partially due to an unfortunate lack of presence this game. I don't think they played that badly, but probably didn't towntell enough to survive a "lynch the lynchbait" town.

And of course, well done to the entire mafia team, all of whom I'd say played fairly well. I thought they were screwed on D1, especially with their early associations, but they pulled it off despite all 3 of them solidly being in the PoE pool, so nice job.

I had fun playing mind games with Mafia, but I believe people like Quick and MOMOMEN should be mod-replaced before the thing escalate as it did. I mean, I was townreading both of them, but because of their attitude I really didn't want to play with them. They make something not game related harmful for the game. I mean come on, that level of toxicity coming from both town? Neither of you deserved the win, and never will playing like that. If I ever get to play another game with you I'll seriously consider lynching myself as town just to make you mad.

Either way, to everyone else, it was fun! Thanks Dino, I hope you know that you did nothing wrong to deserve this level of toxicity un your game; I think you're a wonderful mod balance AND flavorwise.

I do regret kind of checking out of the game at a certain point. I set out a goal to write some awesome/fantastic flavour with a full story this game, but at a certain point my heart just wasn't in the game. Eventually it became difficult just to keep up and post VCs. So I apologise for not being present as much as I should have. One day I'll follow through on having fantastic and COMPLETE flavour!

In general I hold a "you can always approach me" philosophy to modding. I always ctrl+F "VOTE:", "@mod", and "@math", and try to always respond to player concerns in private. No one actually approached me about what happened, so going strictly by my rules (you can criticise the play and not the player), I only felt that I

had

to step in twice, and never the same player twice.

N_M is actually not horrible as town but has a meta that solidly benefits his scumgame because people who take no effort to read him decide that he's a gamethrowing trolling quickhammering asshole as both alignments, which he's not. Quickhammering someone without a claim in a setup with three TPRs (none of which N_M was claiming) should've been a huge red flag.

jjh solidly identified N_M's scum meta, but sadly lynched mutant the one day that N_M could actually have gotten lynched.
