What the actual frick happened to this thread? The questions at the beginning were at least decent.

Is there a thread that lists all the commonly used terms here? I've forgotten a lot of stuff about how to play mafia and I need a refresher course. I remember LAMIST and bussing and that's about it
The wiki has some, although probably not up to date.
Just ask what people mean. They shouldn't lynch because you should questions

Is "X-Shot Vanilla Townie" a well-defined normal role? Or possibly "X-Shot Townie" in accordance with the usual tradition of modifiers replacing the word Vanilla
a la
Bulletproof Townie.
(It would presumably just be a type of named townie.)

Another modifier question: Is there any precedent for a "cannot target the same player more than once" as a modifier? Is there a usual name for it?
(If not, I suggest Wandering)

I can't remember the name, but there actually IS a modifier, standardized with one name, that works exactly that way.
It was used in a bunch of games, mostly by a few moderators in particular, but I can't remember what the name was.
So it exists, and it exists with a standardized name even, I just can't remember it.

I believe it was called Hideous?

Looks like that's right, or at least that name has been used for that modifier before.
New question! Is there a collection of relatively simple closed setups that are universally agreed to be balanced, that I or others can use as points of comparison when evaluating the balance of a new setup?

You can check the archives I guess, and look at the open and semi-open setups. If you are doing a micro, the matrix6 stat info is a nice baseline for balancing.
