Not only that but it changed from using an ability to a scroll when the first post of can’t use two abilities came up.

For Kokichi’s story to be plausible he has at game start
1) Deathproof
2) Thunderwave
3) Friendly neighbor/Messenger / whatever scroll

And don’t say he leveled up into deathproof he called himself treestump yet I think he voted.
