To me, xyzzy's posts feel "super fake tryhard," not SirCake's. Also, xyzzy just finished modding a game where town Cakez started the game off the same, mostly posting for the sake of posting.

In TAZ mafia, SirCakez's first couple posts were sort of laidback ("following along" were his words there) so I don't think it's scummy for him to start this game with more casual posting. I read him as a player that doesn't get intensely analytical until a bit later in the game.

As for his actual posting here, it's townish for him. His posts tend to look better as scum than town, plus I liked the way he jumped onto Fire (don't think scum SirCakez makes that obviously bad vote) and the way he's reading Spiff (feels town to me for a wagoned player to try sorting players based on who's voting them and who's not).

Meh, I don't like Gork's quasi-delusional level of confidence in pushing SirCakez. SirCakez hasn't done anything scummy, and I'm pretty sure the only reason anyone suspects him is because he's posted a lot more than other "casual" players.

I think Gork is completely wrong that there's any similarity in tone between the scum SirCakez game and this game. SirCakez definitely did more in this game to push/build an early wagon (on Fire) than he did in that scum game, for example. There's more pushiness, even when SirCakez is posting casually.

I also think Gork comparison to TAZ mafia doesn't take into account the context of that game (it's clear he just read SirCakez posts in isolation). TAZ mafia ramped up a lot quicker than this game, with a lot more serious analysis from the start coming from me, skitter, and RadiantCowbells, so in context SirCakez definitely felt like a casual player in the first few pages of the game who let other players take the lead.

I think SirCakez is towny for voting Fire, trying to build an early wagon on Fire, reading Spiffeh as town, voting Cogito (for the fairly obvious reason that Cogito voted Spiffeh), and calling out Gork's weird double standard.

I'm not 100% on SirCakez as town, but I'm already seeing conf bias starting to screw with reads. Like, Ramcius calling SirCakez "iffy" for calling out a double standard is just bad.

I'd like to see more votes on Dripping. I don't see her read on Spiffeh coming from town (while SirCakez has a good reason to townread Spiff, I don't see why anyone else would be townreading Spiffeh yet). I also think scum are more likely to be among the less active players in a game like this, since they'd be trying to avoid attracting the suspicion of even a single townie.

Do you not feel that lurking would in and of itself draw attention? Because I feel it would. Especially with a player list like this, I don't see inactive players not getting called out.

Depends on the playerlist. My sense is that inactive scum would thrive here, given the way that most players in this game seem to be scumhunting...

I'm stubborn town? lol that's my impression of you, friend. Especially those strong words of confidence... I might be defending SirCakez but that doesn't mean I'm stubborn or closed to changing my mind. I tend to revise my reads quite often.

@Gork, I like how you're playing overall, don't leave - just didn't like your level of confidence and the cover I felt it could give to scum.

What's wrong with his question?

I'm just trying to figure out if it comes from town actually trying to sort Bright, or scum trying to seem like town by pointing out an inconsistency in Bright's language. When someone posts as little as Cogito has, it makes me wonder why he's focusing on this over everything else.

No, town never even considers no lynching in this setup. As a joke or reaction test, maybe. But never as a serious consideration with actual reasoning.

Bright's probably doing some reverse psychology thinking ("scum wouldn't be so blatantly scummy, so the townies will think it's a town-tell). The problem is that the thought just never occurs to town in the first place.

My reasoning behind thinking about a no lynch was that mislynching a lurker will give us about as much info as a no lynch for phase 2.

Fun game overall! Hard as hell to figure out, not enough townreads to narrow all the way to Marquis. And I'm surprised Fire fled over Marq, I was straight-up townreading Fire. Well played to the scum!
