vote is okay, L-2 on roster is okay, reasoning not so much, considering there's plenty of content from roster already..i dont feel like we're in RVS any longer..

lol sorry nauci, some people hate RVS..(that includes me)..
i do think we can still have fun and be serious at the same time, though..
why do you want a longer RVS? :)

He was going back to RVS mode I think. My answer was meant to be jokey but I’m afraid it’s completely unclear (I was answering the question in another sense, but if a joke needs to be explained it ceases to be a joke).

What do you make of vidit’s latest post?

Oh no, lol, I get the joke. I must have miscommunicated, the question was directed at Nauci. That interaction didn't raise any red flags from you or Flavor.

But since you have me: Ehhhh. If you condense her first three posts into one post it feels less strong than three separate arguments for voting the same person. As I said when commenting on Mellow's post in , I don't totally agree with the idea that they feels scummy.

"In total, I made five posts about my salamander hunch, so I can see why it might seem like I was pushing it, but the first three were me failing to get my vote out properly, the fourth was elaborating on my suspicions when those suspicions were challenged, and fifth was an answer to a direct question."

-Vivit, post

In terms of what she has previously stated this game, I don't have any strong scum reads on her. But I want to point out the reason I don't have a scum read on her is because what she's done so far is the equivalent of 3 posts that aren't terribly AI. The quote there deadass recaps everything that she's done without missing anything major. I'd be damned if I said I could get a read based off of that.

I still stick by my slight town read on Mellow. The initial reaction does feel genuine and pro-town.

#27
and
#28
in very quick succession: I had forgotten to put forth my hunch and put in my hunchvote. Then, since it turned out that I had not formatted my vote properly, I had to make a third post to correct my vote (
#30
). Once I had done
that
, Komodo made post
#31
challenging my suspicions, so I elaborated on my suspicions a bit more in
#32
. Then Flavor Leaf asked a question about my reasoning in post
#33
and I answered.

In total, I made five posts about my salamander hunch, so I can see why it might seem like I was pushing it, but the first three were me failing to get my vote out properly, the fourth was elaborating on my suspicions when those suspicions were challenged, and fifth was an answer to a direct question.
Ok, I can accept this, seems reasonable and I agree with FlavorLeaf that this post seems townie.

Roster
@Roster: can you confirm or deny?
Can I ask why did you follow up on this?
Banter and jokes

Flavor fake claimed Mason with scum in a game I recently modded and even when he flipped vanilla town, the scum who didn't object to the claim won the game

Doughboy was in it and was uh... Not happy about that.

Boon can be nutty but at least it's always entertaining, even if mildly infuriating

Was hoping to provoke the game to be a bit more lighthearted

I think it's fun and promotes better camaraderie and positive spirits

It also sometimes gives PRs room to crumb a little, but that's maybe 2%

It also often has telling moments because it's harder for scum to act truly casual than to provide information laden analysis or grandstanding

huh..i never thought of that..interesting take, very.. :)
i went from doubting your slot to liking it a bit..

doubted your slot coz you wanted to revert to rvs, which i feel is a stage where we dont learn anything much about alignments, plus the "try-hard" comment seemed like it was downplaying players who wanted to move the game forward..

wont be giving you a townread yet, but that made a lot of sense..thanks.. :cop:

what do you think of salamander and jim?

Kind of reminds me of footsies in a fighting game: a state where neither fighter is on the offensive or defensive and both are trying to get the upper hand, especially when they are right at the edge of the range of each other's normal attacks.

I think jumping immediately into analysis posts by definition means nothing will have a whole lot of grounds

And it ends up looking more like showing off rhetorical skill than productive sorting

Besides

I've never had a game where a bunch of analytical people didn't need something more crazy or dramatic or nonsensical to get real conversation started, like a Miller claim or debate about policy lynching or something

Reactions to sensible stuff is less telling, compared to reactions to low hanging fruit posts

The game is more fun when everyone is a nice person and no one is building up frustration

Yet

Being frustrated and angry is the most sortable content for many players

I don't have enough thoughts to post anything meaty right now

And no I don't think I have a good read on flavor leaf, except that he's vastly unpredictable and prone to shenanigans (but probably much less so in a newbie)

I’m generally pretty straight forward in newbie games. I like to think I hit all the right marks as an IC. I have pretty strong newbie retention.

I like to constantly be in some newbie games, though. I basically play as an IC a lot in real life a lot as well.

Reads so far:
Rosterfoster
: standard RVS tactics, no real reads.
Salamander
: OMGUS counteraccusation against standard RVS tactics = scum read. Not strong, but stronger than anyone else's at this point. I may remove my vote if he comes in with a good defensive argument before lynchtime, but as is, his posts early in the thread are definitely the scummiest so far.
Nauci
: Made an off-topic post about masons, either a funpost for the lulz or a scumpost for the derail (I'm much more inclined to think the former.) Otherwise, strong town reads.
Flavor Leaf
: Town reads, but pretty quick to clear suspicion on people.
xwing
: Clearly wants to get a move on with the game. Rushing to get out of the early game is normally a scum read, but he has explicitly stated he doesn't like RVS as a personal preference. He seems like he's still getting the hang of Mafia (this has been commented on in past threads) so this definitely doesn't seem like a scum rush. When considering votes, he thinks clearly and critically. Likely town.
Komodo
: Seems to be doing more listening and asking questions than pushing ideas, so I'm guessing town.
Jim Hawkins
: Awfully quiet, so no direct reads either way, but lurking is itself a scum read. His post and login history (which at this writing say that he made his last post about 20 hours ago and logged off about 10 hours after that) indicate that he had chances to post but did not take them
Munchmellow
: Not many posts, not much to go on, but a bit more active than Jim Hawkins, so lurker vibes are weaker.
Keeping my vote on Salamander for now.

im gonna town lean vivit for the readlist in
i disagree with a few of the strength/reasons for the reads, but they're pretty much identical with mine..
curious as to why you think scum would want to go out of RVS faster? i feel like that's actually anti-scum..
and i dont remember indicating my level of experience this game..did you look at my past games? did you look at other's as well?

From newbie games? Because I have a drastically different playstyle in newbie games.

I’ve also played in newbie games throughout the past year and a half and have never rolled scum in a newbie.
