Did not think a cat based username would be so controversial, what with this being the internet. Still, I regret nothing.

@RCE - much obliged for link. Will read the whole thing later but skimmed early D2 stuff. IME crumbing cop never works as intended. It's either too subtle to do any good or so blatant you get NK'd.

OK now I see what you were doing. I was referring to an actual cop crumbing. My first MS game as cop I dropped at least 3 crumbs (including the "first three letters" technique); I was whacked N1 and was sure it was because I was too obvious, but scum said postgame they didn't notice and neither did town. I've also seen scum countercrumbing work to get a town cop lynched.
Q: Were you really scumreading snowbeast off that one post, or just reaction testing?

At this point in the game it's foolhardy to trust anyone, or to pretend you know anything with certainty. At best you can have a gut townread, which both FL and Roo seem to have on Yellow, but Roo doesn't have on FL. The pocketing strategy discussed above is just one example of how scum can be erroneously townread.

RCE can you explain why you're townreading Overkil1? And why you're voting Catstar?
I see your point about FL, but in my two previous newbie games the ICs have been (more or less intentionally) passive and more given to theoretical issues than gamesolving.

Regarding Overkil1, the use of such qualifiers/amplifiers as "tbh" and "tbf" indicates an overweening desire to be believed that's more likely to come from scum. You shouldn't need to remind anyone that you're being frank and honest as town.
In post 89, RCEnigma wrote:Can we all agree to stop being so agreeable? I'm going to start thinking everyone's scummy.
I agree
Also I did the thing where I forget FM exists again.
Overkil1 previous post was ~7 hours before this one. How do you forget you're in a game this quickly? FL asks this very question, which Overkil1 doesn't even try to answer.
Am I making too much of this? Possibly. Is it nothing? No.

@Birdy: Catstar was my RVS vote. Overkil1 was my second vote. While I share your sentiments about cats, your answer about your own Catstar vote was at least as silly and beside the point as my reasons for voting Overkil1.
@Roo: Nope. Just kicking over a hornets nest and seeing what flies out. Could be useful later, even if it doesn't seem so right now.
@Yellow: If my read on Overkil1 was such a stretch, why did you vote him?

In post 151, Birdy wrote:It's not that maintaining your vote on someone you voted in RVS is scummy. It's that he only started "actually" scumreading him once Egix placed Overkill at L-2, i.e. when it became the first major wagon of the game. This seems to me like scum going for an easy D1 lynch. The fact that it was his RVS vote is more or less irrelevant; it's that it became a serious vote after overkill became an easier target. Essentially I'm doubting that GrandWazoo's reasons for voting Overkill are town-aligned.
So my vote only became "serious"
after
somebody else voted Overkil1? Seems to me your beef is with Egix, though putting someone at L-2 is hardly "going for an easy lynch." I don't really pay attention to wagons until they hit L-1.
I've already explained my motivations for voting Overkil1 and they weren't random.

I get that it is early in the game and we're trying to gather information. But don't you think 111 is a bit of a
misrepresentation
? At least in regard to "tbf" which is only in 36 and talks about dogs and cats?
I prefer "exaggeration" since I wasn't putting words in his mouth. He used tbh another time but I'm too tired to find it. The main point was to generate discussion in a game which at that point was lacking same.
In post 149, RCEnigma wrote:None of this argument is going to be relevant later.
In post 155, RCEnigma wrote:If overkill flipped scum and I take the tbf/tbh thing into consideration then Grandwazoo is probably scum there too.
So is it relevant or isn't it? And if Overkil1 was my scumbuddy, wouldn't my actions be like the worst distancing tactic ever?

yes the wagon led by your top scumread is the wagon you want to join.
Just being pragmatic here. Somebody needs to be strung up.
Your Roo vote was back on P1 (24) and you've barely mentioned it since. Give me a reason other than the lamist post.

Yeah, you could almost call Over's wall lamist...
It's disconcerting that I don't have anything more than weak/gut reads on anyone. Also that FL hasn't voted at all, has posted a lot of non-useful content and is now AWOL. Also that I have a superbowl party to finish setting up in a couple hours.
My townleans are Egix, Yellow and RCE.
My scumleans are Over and Birdy.
Everyone else is null. If I had a good feeling on a Roo lynch I'd put him L-1 right now. But I don't.

@Roo: didn't Egix address your concerns in that post you quoted? I mean it's a fine line between sheeping and agreeing, Prolly would've been wiser to leave RCE out of it, but I just don't see scum motivation there.

Catstar's post was substantive and good. I prefer quality over quantity. FL has posted more than anyone and I can't see that he's contributed a damn thing toward hunting scum.
Cat if you've read one of my games then you've read Yellow's too, as he's been in both of my other games (we've both been town). I don't see anything he's done this game that's inconsistent with his play in the other two. Of course I've never seen his scum game so who knows.

Speedlynches happen when town runs out of time and somebody has to hang. I had a problem with it because I've seen scum swoop in at the last minute and lynch a townie, plus I had no read on Egix at all. Birdy I had a scumlean on but it was way too late to put wheels on that wagon.
Thanks Plot for modding - not the most exciting game but I always learn something!

I thought you did fine. This wasn't an easy game to figure out - lots of dead air and extraneous noise, not a great deal of productive activity in general. The wiki stuff is helpful to a point but no substitute for experience. Confbias is always a danger in mafia and no one is immune.
