Thoughts on PvT?

I like protoss myself quite a bit but Terran is a much more versatile race to play that I can do way more in terms of playstyles where as with protoss you can only do like 2 different kind of builds.

Plus dropping marines in bases is just the best.

Allo because his style her is not genuine to sorting. Dan made a good point earlier that he seemed more interested in looking like he was doing shit when he wasn't actually doing shit. He also doesn't get that honest feel to posts that he would have as town I think. He makes bad posts in general but they come from a real place where as here he makes bad posts that don't mean anything even to him I think.

Allo has the problem where he thinks in a very small way. That black is black and white is white. Still trying to push against me me while he has no reason to as Scum. I gave him a town read and he could simply move onto someone else while still calling me Scum but instead he's just going I circles. It's been made clear that I can make unpredictable (or predictable at this point of my MS life?) Actions and he believes that I have 8 coins to my knowledge so keep poking wouldn't be good as Scum.
Originally before that I had him as town from his tone of posts and genuine Scum hunting at first. Was more interested in directly sorting the game than to have fun or let others drive the seat. I'm on phone so no quotes right now.
Overall I think he's just arrogant in thinking that town will play like Y and Scum play like X.

As I said earlier the posts are fillers and now refusing to discuss with me even though I basically dangled the role in front. Ank came on and said allo and Nancy was Scum and pushed Nancy because if a game. It actually wasn't anything more and seemed desperate.
The problem when only using meta to push someone it's an easy cop out (and yes I've done it in the past many times). I think Ank would use this to get out of being suspected.
The town reads given just seem weak and looking for support.
I do not believe that both Ank and Fire can be Scum if even either of them are.

Nancy was being heavily pushed for the weakest reasons from scumm players. The whole I'm leaving shit was NAI for me and I already had my view before. I just read her posts and reactions as something I suspect town will do.
I really hate the aggressive posts to Dr Worm as I'm feeling these are forced now but that can easily be forced by town.
Overall my town read on Nancy is a primary result from the interactions on players I don't like as town.

Preface: I don't have any super strong scum reads right now. What I have is the beginning of a poe built around a wealth of townreads. I don't particularly want to expand on my townreads right now, since I think indicating how "locktown" or "leantown" people are in my hierarchy is potentially more beneficial for scum than town. This is just where I am right now.

People I would like to see alive in second dance: PvtUrist, RadiantCowbells, Dannflor, Ankamius, Nancy Drew 39, Gamma Emerald, Taly

Vedith -- Firebringer is a special case -- I don't strongly townlean Vedith, and am mildly annoyed at him for how he has acted since the coins thing was revealed. Firebringer I would have otherwise liked to see in second dance but I'm pretty indifferent to Firebringer doing his usual shtick of leaving the dance rn -- if she wants to, fine, if not, we can deal with it in dance 2.

That leaves me with a 4:3 for remaining reads, of which, thru the power of maths, 4 must be town, and 3 will be scum (if Vedith is town, which I'm still thinking about). Don't think I've had a full solve d1 recently, but what ya gonna do. I wanted to narrow this down to 3:2 since that is more informative for how I would like things to go in Dance 1 but frankly some of my edge reads just aren't there yet

Allomancer -- Highest of my low gents. I think Allo has been playing pretty pro-town in terms of his mech thoughts and I feel like I've usually understood where he was coming from with his reads. The scumreads I believe are primarilly tonal I believe, which suggests to me that I need to at some point sit down and meta him, because I take tonal scumreads seriously
Moment -- there is literally nothing to work with here. Given my wealth of townreads this means he is low on my list rn
DoubtingThomas -- mostly I disliked some of DoubtingThomas's reactions to Dr Worm's posts, but overall I'd say this is more null-defaultscumlean than a scumread
Dr Worm -- this is probably the slot that bothers me the most right now. I think he's funny, I think he's having fun, I'm not nearly as annoyed by him as other people are. But I think he flat lied about not being a stealth alt; based on his lexicon, thought processes, way of presenting arguments, and mechanical familiarity, this is someone who has played forum/chat mafia before and I think he deliberately downplayed his experience at the start of the game. That does not *make him lockscum*. But I would have very much preferred if he just said "I'm a stealth alt, don't mainhunt me plz guys" -- he's denied this multiple times. Maybe it's true. But there are several phrases that are specific to *this site* that he has been using so either he is a really fast learner or he has been lying about his self-meta.

Pink Ball -- I actually really liked 323 and I very nearly have thrown this into my "would like to see alive in dance 2" and just decided that there's probably 2 scum gents, 1 scum lady, but I feel like I'm just not familiar enough with the player yet to feel totally comfortable doing that. Easily the most likely town out of my bottom 7 unpaired right now though.
Alisae -- I feel like I just haven't gotten a full whiff of town Alisae yet this game but this isn't really a scumread, just haven't seen the town yet
TheBrie -- I feel like in each of her long posts there's one line I kinda dislike, so in terms of like/dislike ratio this is one of the lower players, but again I wouldn't say this is a strong scumread

My definition of "alpha" (a term that's wildly misused, unfortunately) is someone who cares and gets shit done, but isn't a dumbass in sense of show offs or put downs (put downs=less "resource" to work with than otherwise, hence dumbass).

Remember your goal is not to pair with a universal townread in this setup, your goal is to pair with someone that you can sort and that you will have motivation to solve the game with in dance 2. Or at least that's how I see it; if you disagree and just think you will give up if you pair with one of the harder to sort town gents then I at least understand where you're coming from

No, you weren’t in that game iirc. It was a Varsoon game, which I replaced into after about 100 pages very close to EOD 1, while I was really sick as well. I had no clue what I was even doing until about 3/4 of the way through D2 and It ended I think early in D3, just when I was finally getting a clue what was actually happening. The mechanics in that game, were arguably the most complex I’d seen anywhere and I didn’t take full advantage of all of the possible NAs I had at my disposal, because I didn’t really understand them. If there was any game, hydraing would have been a huge advantage, it was that one.

This is the issue I'm feeling. I don't have strong indications of scum!Dann (at-least, not things that I can place into words reliably) but I'm feeling that more than 1 player here is viewing the handsome rogue through rose tinted glasses.

Dann's been pretty charismatic, and I do like his personality. As redundant as this might be, likability=/=alignment, and at the very least I'd prefer if people didn't conf-town Dann and completely place him out of the equation yet.

I won't. And that said, it might be best I don't partner with him (not that he's asked). I'm more likely to conf-bias in that case. Half the town read is coming through trusting Krazy which might be a stupid thing to do. But I've not got a reason to scum read him, and if his only completed scumgame is years back, meta won't help much.

I don't agree with you nuking yourself in that case. Scum are probably going to do one of three things with the IC:
1- Throw it on the partner of their scummiest partner (more likely)
2- Throw it on someone who won't be a town leader no matter what (likely and also possibly overlapping with 1)
3- Throw it on someone purely for wifom (less likely but in being less likely still possible)

Not yet. It's more that I've barely got time to play, and if I could be persuaded that me not joining would benefit town, I'd probably do it. But I don't have strong reads.
The more I think about it, the less I can see it being a good idea. I'm not all that worried about Vedith, and don't undertand the mechanics well enough to see why it would help anyway. Wouldn't he end up with a larger proportion of the votes with less couples?
Also I believe Ank is still intending to refuse all invitations, so there'll be two gentlemen excluded already.

RC and I just have a major personality clash and it usually isn't enough to cause problems (especially now that we had so many months to cool off after the last catastrophe)

I think it only got that bad in Labyrinth because of mafia fatigue on both sides, plus we had other disagreements in very close proximity to that, so

I’m extremely confident I would also mesh well with Krazy and RC and me hydraing, also worked pretty well but this is of course very different but we coordinated well on reads, in YGM.

Is it worth it to kill two near-assuredly town ladies and three unknown gentlemen simply to avoid the worst case scenario?

A few people have mentioned this at this point, and I have to say something about it. I don't get the idea of "clashing" with a neighborhood partner. Certainly it's ideal to have a neighborhood with someone whom you feel you can solve the game with, but my view coming into the game was simply to pair with someone whom I could be absolutely certain was town. It's a part of the reason why I don't particularly want to scumread you – signing up for this game, in the back of my mind was the idea that if you were obviously town very soon I could just pair with you and be done with it.

I had Gamma previously much higher on my list but I can’t move her up until she A) explains her reasoning for how this setup is more beneficial to town than the previous one. B) Why she mentioned you specifically, in her scumread on me. C) I need to see more of her reads.

A) I don’t see why you would find an early, off the cuff readslist concerning, even if it was “based on thread presence”, which I don’t even necessarily agree with. Reads change and mine are fluid. So, I see nothing wrong with that.

B) As far as the pairing up part, this is further evidence why we shouldn’t pair up together. I think it’s best I be paired with a partner I work well with and based on meta, that wouldn’t be you or DT. I’m sorry you don’t get this. :/

Ok I reread Worm's iso now that I'm like 60% sure of his main and I'm still not sure but I'm not sure I entirely want him in my bottom two, and if I'm redoing my bottom males entirely then I should be thinking about DT anyway.

that being said I agree that it is best not to be clear about the exact hierarchy of your top townreads

however, you should be very focused on your bottom 3 gentlemen and your bottom 2 ladies since that will be the primary focus of discussion for dance 1, and there is no reason not to discuss them

Okay not sure how far you wanted me to read but I disagree with both suggestions. Even if skipping the first dance is technically optimal, in practice 8 days is not enough time to solve a game.

And town's pre-dance reads are not going to be worth very much, so I think it's much more important that each person get a partner they can read, so they know when to leave the dance, or more importantly when NOT to leave the dance.

(If everyone could perfectly read their partner, unless scum paired with each other the game would be a perfect town win.)

As long as people talk about the game, sorting will be possible. Doesn't mean you need a complete moratorium on discussing townreads but if most people don't do it (or at the very least, if people don't say which townreads are their strongest), it will be hard for scum to know where town's collective head is at.

I still think unless you have an actual hierarchy or lynch order, it’s not going to make that much of a difference to scum but if people are making questionable reads for not really great reasons, that I think, is still the best way to sort people, Do you disagree with that?
