Not afraid, but they don't need to. If they didn't have day chat this would have looked like giving instructions to partners though.

And yes, scum do want to be in the bunker, but so do town. The more townies protected the better for us, and the more scum in there the better for them.

What Fumiki posted was town motivated.
If you think that's scum trying to go for that look sure, but the post itself is far from worthless (@Ejj this part).

My stance was "this likely comes from town" already. I am actually arguing that while Ejji seems sus of my reasoning to TR that.

I think he would have said something else to my post other than `not worth reading`. Like, scum doesn`t often say `I`m not reading you`, they might make a wordy post about how it can go either way, but not `not worth reading, confusing posts` I would say.

HRG as the towniest in your read list is honestly why I find considerably easy to play scum as long as there is no cop or clear/guilty roles in a game depending on the playerlist.

HRG has done exactly nothing to warrant a town read imo. His posts are all logic + logic what it`s not bad but it`s not something to town read

You seem to be calculating how town someone is considering how reasonable they are and that`s the 101 fallacy in mafia.

I can even give you examples where scum was one of the most reasonable players in the game (lots of example):

1. Aster in the most recent Red Flag
2. Mutant in Pickety Pickety
3. GuiltyLion in my first newbie game

As long as you`ve lost the self-conscious pressure of being scum (that you usually lose with experience), you can be very reasonable and never look bad in the flips since you know everyone alignment anyway.

Of course I can be wrong here, sometimes scum is just being scummy and town is being towny, but I think it should be food for thought, for everyone.

I`m going to seriously read this game right now because it`s a duty that it`s bugging me and I`m going to postpone forever if I don`t do it soon.

Also I might or not regret signing up to so many mafia games because I already lost my returning hype and I`m low energy right now.

Hopefully we get some scum flips earlier or even lynch the bomb.

In essence I agree with Fumuki - if you want advice about how to read people, try to look for the motivations for their actions, rather than how they sound.

The person doesn’t change as town or scum, so chances are they will sound the same but act differently.

It’s a subtle distinction which I still don’t really get, but I try to look for it now.

The way you slice it, they're both scummy.

However, ejjinami's play strikes me as "no sane scum is actually that scummy". Almost Jestery even, except there are no Jesters here. 22 is a good example. I'm assuming she's town who's hoping people call her bluff.

Eyes strikes me as a Goon who wants people to vote Eyes instead of the actual bomb (who is probably a deepwolf tbh)

Motivational-wise HRG is potentially a deepwolf, but I'm not voting my top read. There's a difference between a high risk gamble and a foolhardy undertaking.

RF feels less likely to be a deepwolf. The meta read feels like too much effort for scum.

How could you know what game roster is talking about if that`s the case? I don`t like to do this, and if you absolutely refuse it`s fine, but do you go as another identity? Because it has become a really important detail for my read on you.

And that is exactly my point. As a newbie I wouldn't be taking risks if I rolled scum. Check my scum games (I have 2 finished scum games) and you would see I was more reserved in my posting and

more concerned about my image.

But back to the point, it doesn’t work like that. I agree that a newb!scum should be more likely to avoid talking about stuff like that altogether, but this doesn’t apply to someone who is just pretending to be a newb.

The whole point of pretending to be a newb is to be strongly town-read for stuff that’s easy to fake.

Actually it was just to try something new like I said, and also I would have less pressure to actively contribute since no one would know me, I would be new and etc (I wanted to kind of lurk here a lot until I felt it was time to get some reads, I`m still doing that but I`m doing it sooner than I would if I kept the act).

As town I purposely write my posts to be town read and I`ve already said it before in games, and I flipped town on them so yeah I was telling the truth. Take the most recent Red Flag for example. My posts there were really just me calculating them to be town read (I also was testing how to make town work together but that`s another story). My posts in micro 840 and Pickety Pickety until day 2 also the same thing.

I don`t need to fake being a newbie at all for that objective I think, even if I was scum.

Also I like self-meta and that`s why I`m saying this.
