I'm curious who stk wants to send out. I think they gave a tentative list? I might have confused it with someone else posting though.

Once we get an idea of who stk wants to send on the mission, we should be able to progress with the game. Even if that means collaborating on who we think are the best options to send.

Don't know. That was twice now, so I lean toward actual misunderstanding and not anything deliberate.

i made a mistake on the odds because of reading one Shinigami and then mistaking thinking both traitors worked in the same way.
i think it's entirely possible it was a mistake (it is easy to make, i also missed some things) but like i said at the time, better safe than sorry when it comes to first mission assignment.
the reason i brought it up was because myself and other players kept stressing the importance of not claiming, so it seemed like you hadn't read those posts.

i don't know how i feel about it now, i do like your recent posts.

i like Chito, TLK, and Penguin for a mission right now. Penguin i'm most tentative on because most of his posting had just been objectively right, but i also have a bad habit of scumreading him unnecessarily.

That's my current thoughts.

Ok, so here's what I've got when trying to break the setup:

If Touta shoots Kira, we win, and Team Kira don't get a guess at L.

This means that if we massclaim, we can determine who the scum are, and we can use Shuichi, Naomi and Soichiro to determine who Light is.

We will have to pass the first two missions (probably easy with all the information), then intentionally fail missions 3 and 4 (to avoid losing by scum guessing L) to survive to Night 4, which we can do by vetoing 5 missions, where Touta will be able to shoot Light. Note that we have to do it in this order because Ryuk may be here to screw with our votes.

The only thing complicating all these is scum being able counterclaim. However, we can use many principles to determine who scum and L are:

1. Anyone who is not counterclaimed is confirmed town
2. Anyone who nobody claiming to be L claims to be scum is confirmed town
3. All of Shuichi, Naomi and Soichiro gives us clues on both who scum and Light are, and scum cannot counterclaim all of them.


I'm now trying to enumerate all the counterclaim cases, and see if all cases can be broken. I'd like some discussion on this or if any of the above is blatantly wrong.

the investigative roles don't give a complete picture of who scum is for a reason. do you really think Morality didn't take a massclaim into account during design?
i started to explain why this is a bad idea before i realized i would be giving scum a roadmap of how best to counterclaim anything should it come up.

not to mention, i don't want to play a game like that. i think we'll just lose, but even if we get lucky and it works, it sounds like a boring and rote way to go down a list and mechanically put in actions and votes. you barely have to think.

Chito: I feel like I'm not the one to debate this since I'm still wrapping my head around everything but if we sort out the crossclaims then doesn't it come down to which shinigami scum have? If you force 3 and 4 to fail then ryuk can change 1 or 2 to a fail before mission 4 ends, so there would be 3 task force fails and touta wouldn't get to shoot because game would be over. I think you're right that that is a win for us if scum rolled rem but then we'd basically be turning the game into 50% winrate with nothing to do with player choices, only whether scum have ryuk (scum win) or rem (town win)

Chito: you're misunderstanding how Ryuk's power works. he can only xhange one vote for success or fail, from one player, to the opposite, so he can only affect missions after their members have been decided and voting is happening.

to add to this: telling us to stop disagreeing with you while you get to keep disagreeing with us is unfair. i don't want to play the game like that and i don't think it's possible. i signed up to play resistance mafia, not to a numbers game where i don't get to play.

I don't think the risk of claiming is really worth it. I suppose it is possible to math out the win con, but I feel like the amount of knowledge is vague enough to prevent anyone from outright knowing anything. I appreciate the attempt and I even town read you for it, stk, but I don't think that it is the way I want to go.

Chances are that the first mission will succeed no matter what just because the Kira team wouldn't want to reveal themselves so easily. I'm not surprised that this game has such a low post number because of the system, us being new, and most of us being at stk's mercy for now.

I feel like we hear one or two team possibilities from stk to vote for so we can progress and get some info. If we get close to a 5th veto we can sweat but I don't think that will/should happen D1 in this game type.

I didn’t realize that the holder of the death note could vote someone other than themselves...wouldn’t this draw attention to them as scum though?
