It means everyone has a mark so you can't go "Hey that guy has a mark and I know because we're IRL and have eyes" in order to determine who's had funky shit done via marks

There are rolls that take away your mark of clarity and give you some BS like

-mark of fangs/vampirr = you're now a vampire
-mark of terror = you oopsie your night action
-mark of love = lover

and whatnot

But for the time being EVERYONE has a mark of clarity so stop worrying about it
