1. I've played irl every so often, and I'm in an ongoing game offsite that's my first ever not irl.
2. Someone from the offsite game plays here and they invited me to the 81 person ONUW game. So I joined and played that.
3-4. I tend to go mostly based on the vibes I get to begin with. I just remember that Scum has to lie, and town doesn't unless PR. So I guess I go off whether I think people are being honest with their posts which in turn determines the vibes I get from them.
5-6. Yeah this question is kinda dumb to answer. I don't have enough experience to know for sure how I would play differently as town or scum. And I'm not gonna bother trying to predict it. I post when I can, and contribute what I think would be useful.

I don't like Emps' posts very much, my vote is serious.

First thing that jumped out to me was the comment on so many SE's. I thought it was nervous scum with another newbie partner, but upon rereading I'm not so sure.

Aside from that, he posts a lot but I don't find it to be helpful. This is after the initial accusation, but 120 is particularly useless. And the questions aren't something I think is useful for discussion, or at least I don't see anything I'd really care to ask about in it.

I think this is mostly playstyle, not alignment. Some are intimated by SEs because we can "hide better" or "town lead". But really we are basically you with some more games. I think its a mistake to focus on the letters rather than the player.

Fluffs are fluffs. Sometimes its important to keep the room active, plus I think emps has some OCD/addiction issues with websites generally.

I ask the questions myself in most games. I personally think they contain some scumhunting gold. But every game I ask them, someone scumreads me ofr asking.

I dont see scum motive for a push on a loud player at this time, plus there was reasoning that felt legitimate. Still not crazy about the slot, but WAY within rand still.

SE aside - *Rand - expression used to express confidence in reads. Like every player in a game is 78% likely to be town (75 if counting town!yourself). Thus if I think someone is 50/50, thats actually a scumread +25% above rand.

3. Tone, motive, associations.
4. Tone, motive, consistency of thought process.

Stealing from my own version of the answers: 4. I use tone more than I used to. I also motivations, probabilities, and associations. For each post, I try to ascertain the motive behind it. Does it seem town-motivated or scum-motivated. To be sure, both town and scum have similar objectives, but they arent overlapping. Town is not as afraid of being lynched, because there will be a mislynch at some point; scum knows that their death is 50% of a loss. Town wants to out real analysis to advance the game; scum wants to repeat information that everybody knows so they can appear to be helping without actually doing it. Another key area of difference is in probabilities. Here, I cant say it much better than a strategy article from the Wiki (link). I'll speak more on associations tomorrow if Im still kicking.

NY timezone, most serious posts will come btw 9pm and 1am, but I mobile skim and sometimes have fun during the day

1) Close to 30 games in my 8 years here on MS, though this is my first this year and only the second in the past 3. Details of my play history can be found on my wiki page, though a few are not listed as they were on alts that are still secret: Jackal711

2) I was directed here from a different forum that ran Mafia style games in its off-topic area.

3-6) Hard to answer since my style changes every game based on that specific game's ruleset, type, and player list.

Oh yeah, also what are everyone's timezones/regular posting hours?

I'm west coast US, so Pacific time zone (currently UTC-7). My ability to post is highly erratic so times will vary, but typically between 9am and 9pm my time (It is 9:50 am as I write this post)

I have only one serious read based on what's happened so far (which has mostly been RVS and discussion of the questions emps posted and the answers that have been posted to them). As it is a slight scumread, I will place my vote there for now.
