I agree that wave was likely what's intended. I think he had a choice between "queen" and "princess" to try to clue the 3, with queen being better connected to wave while princess being better connected to fair, and he likely didn't consider the "hand of the princess" in choosing.

Correct

Unfortunately, this throws me for a loop, because I see multiple answers.

Shop works for the mechanic angle
Van is a vehicle
Saturn is a brand of car (my first car was a Saturn) though I think not a GM
Club also fits maybe? Was there a Goodwrench club or something?

I'm stymied over why he chose Goodwrench instead of mechanic or automotive if the above is correct.

If it's van + saturn, there is no way you don't use vehicle or automotive.

I don't understand the club connection, and I'm not sure what a goodwrench is, though I have a vague recollection that there's a car-related chain called goodwrench motors.

Is goodwrench associated with Vans in particular, maybe?

I might be!

Very very naively, I would say Van + Shop? Agree that mechanic would make way more sense.

I feel like there's something specific about goodwrench that is relevant? What does he look like?
