Yeah, I probably wouldn't do one on each of the books. I'd probably do those two you suggested and probably another like
Prince Caspian
or something like that.

I have had the followint ideas for games that I would like to mod:

If anyone else has already claimed (or done) these ideas let me know, else: They're mine hands off. I'm developing these games as I speak, a couple are nearly ready to play, I just need to finish Mixed Theme and find a co-mod to help me with my first game.

Bugsy Malone Mafia
Willy Wonka Mafia
Klingon Mafia (Everyone has to speak Klingon...)
High School Mafia (Geeks vs Cool kids)
Backwards Mafia (Undead, but not quite like you'd think)

Any thoughts?

(Just kidding about having to speak klingon, btw).

(Or am I...)

DoomCow had a High School Mafia that never got past the first day. He had an interesting mechanic that we all had to pm an answer to a question by the end of the day. If I remember correctly, it even had something to do with who got killed overnight. Seeing that we didn't make it past a day, I never got to see it in action.

Of course, none of that has to do with your theme, it just reminded me of that and I'm still curious as to what that was all about.

In the interest of neighbourly cooperation I hereby release any and all claims real, implied or otherwise, that I may have or have had to the mafia: High School Mafia. If anyone else wants to do it, or continue it be my guest.

If it's still available after my first couple of games I'll look at it again...

Stewie if you want to compare notes let me know, see if we were on the same track...

mudster tried to run a backwards mafia on the archived site -- but it was a miserable failure...you might want to read it as a cautionary tale.

Oooh - Willy Wonka mafia :-P Who are the bad guys? Vermicious Knids?

I'd like to say a few things about this thread as a clarification. First of all, it doesn't mean anything. This is something I put together so that mods could find out whether or not there was interest in a particular theme before going to the trouble of fleshing it all out. That way if, for instance, I found out that Homestar Runner fans were considered equal to bugeyed freaks here, I wouldn't bother writing it and then going through the painfully slow process of having sign-ups for a game nobody wants to play. I figured others would like access to the same service as well.

But it doesn't mean anything. Just because somebody hasn't claimed a theme doesn't mean they won't do it, Just because a theme hasn't been mentioned here doesn't mean it won't happen, and most importantly, someone claiming a theme doesn't mean they have any special right to it. It does, however reduce the potential pool for your game, as people are somewhat less likely to play a game based on a theme they just played(or so the untested theory goes). It's also to let people know who is most likely to be modding a certain theme. I might, for instance, be more interested in playing a HHGG game modded by Werebear than by another mod. So it's nice to see that name in parentheses next to it.

Just please do not take this thread too seriously. I mostly put it up as an underhanded way to hype Homestar Runner Mafia. Which, by the way, is going to be Revengeanceful.

So until next time, keep posting your crap, and I'll keep posting mine.

Looks like interest in Shakespearean mafia is going to be approximately zero. Oh well.

I keep forgetting to throw in my two cents about games. Done right, Shakespeare based mafia could rock. He was the king of under the table plots, murder, suspicion, and everything else that makes mafia great.

Stereotype Mafia? That was going to be my idea. Nooooo!

Anyways, what about Political Mafia? The mafia would be terrorists, and the rest of the roles would be liberal and conservative politicians.

Wacky: More like that yes...

Willy wonka is still on the drawing board, not going to give away too many clues, but just going with the major characters from the movie at the mo...

My latest bizarre idea: Unclaimable Role Mafia, where no role can be truthfully claimed without at least losing its power, but for more subtle reasons than just saying "If you claim your role, you lose its power.".

I'm starting a game of Clubs&Socs Mafia on another site.

Basically, it's set in the college where there are many rival clubs and societies, and each player plays the role of one club/soc each with there own agenda, powers, allies/rivals, etc.

While I haven't even started my first mafia game (where is darkblade? :( ) I had an interesting idea for one: Illuminati Mafia. Sort of similar to shadyforce's idea, except the roles come from the game Illuminati.

www.stevejacksongames.com for those unfamiliar with it.

Prizm, Dourgrim is actually planning a game based on Illuminati. The front post has a listing of everything that's been announced in this thread.

Norinel, a good version of that is the paranoid, who's role is activated when he gets targeted. A truthful claim would alert the mafia to his presence, and then they wouldn't attack him. I've wanted to see this role used more so that cop and doctor players could bluff it.

Don't expect it any time soon, because I have like four roles that'd fit into the theme at the moment.

If I haven't expressed interest in Shakespeare yet, I do now.
