Alright it's time. I should have taken longer with this but I really won't have the time to deepdive this as hard as I'd like: I have a strong theory and I'm gonna trust my gut w/ it.

If I'm wrong I'm comfortable talking through this post-game if people think I'm garbage or w/e but I am leaning really heavily into early-game interactions before particular townies (self included) started heavily shitting the bed. I also think his latergame play has been very much going through the motions, and neither flipped scum has really... had a trajectory on him. As far as scum threatre early-game goes I think it'd be very difficult for alacrity/iconeum to maintain their mutual bus while also maintaining nuanced interactions with emps as their third scumbuddy - if they were actually the scumteam they had an absolute tonne of fun together.

I know I've talked about meta a lot without going into the details but to put it succinctly: bob's finished towngame showed a more reactive intuitive style of solving with a greater deal of nuance. he is enthusiastic as both alignments but lacks the depth of intuition and pace of posting when he's scum (not to say I'm reading him by post-count. more reading him by the extent of intuition and POWER in his posts). Both of those factors are missing here.

emps kinda hasn't.... done anything towny except have good early-game interactions with both flipped scum. he also derailed a lot of early solving which in retrospect looks wolfier but the more I consider it probably comes from newb!town via negligence more often than it comes from newb!scum via malice. It's quite an elegant way of scumming and like... emps' finished scumgame is good but I'm not sure I'd consider this an intuitive change of style for him.

Via associatives, emps looks kinda unaligned with ico/blake

Via meta, Bob resembles his scumgame (though not strongly); emps doesn't really resemble his scumgame much but I have less confidence on trying to meta read him

via claims/mechs: Bob softed jk early and was quickly confirmed as a jk. his claim changed when the game pushed towards a soloscum gamestate where he would become a clearing power role; this benefits scum and not town. fireb would have received information about his modifier and didn't crumb this as far as I can tell (in fairness I wouldn't have either). emps didn't soft neap like, at all, but he did soft novice and I think his claim has been firm. keeping in mind he'd need to be a scum roleblocker etc. who fakeclaimed neap and was happy with being roleblocked the first night while he did...mmmsomething? while one of his buddies killed me. gna be vain for a sec I think I was the n1 target. my reads were just crap but towny enough d1 that taking me out would have fucked the gamestate; emps wasn't really doing anything and would have been a pretty sub-optimal kill. he's also the scum pr if he's scum so probs didn't do the kill

this tracks to me, I think. the utility of the rc/tracker obviously could be the reason for the unibackup but I think the unibackup kinda makes the most sense if the neap claim is true. idm the idea of two protectives on principal but there's only one kp on any given night and I don't really get why town would have two of them + a unibackup



yeah blah blah I've written over a thousand words to myself in trello and I don't think I have the capacity to remove the confbias I've wound up with from rereading (esp. while getting ready to travel)
