Mafia definitely need to read the setup and (some) town can get away with not doing it. Some possibility that he’s trying to townslip here (or it could just be a townslip)
-Hop
Except until you mentioned it, I didn't even realize there was a set up link. Had to go looking for it.

Either way, it is odd that you specifically mentioned mafia and checking out the setup as a requirement. I mean, a couple hours in on day one of day one, its plausible there's a few of us who hadn't yet. Also, if you haven't really read much of the set up, why would you base the opinion there's not a jester or jester-like role? Seems like something you'd confirm before replying back to me. I mean, you're right, there doesn't seem to be. But your so sure post after admitting you haven't looked into it, tells me
you're lying somewhere

Ok this logic is really shitty and promotes bad play.

Just want to clarify that I did mean this sentence seriously despite the rest of the post being joking.
Can you expand on what's bad about it? Other than the fact you can't really tell between the two.

I have skimmed/mostly the setup. I know the roles in it but not how specific things like the spell shield work exactly/differently to a normal game.
I put the --- between the lines to mark that the first half was not serious. Look at the bolded words (LAMIST) followed by me saying I haven't done something that only town wouldn't do. I'm kind of surprised neither of you would point that bit out.

Just so everyone is in the clear, i've read the setup and while i really don't understand a single thing about the "points mechanic" i did gather from the setup that we are informed about who the mafia roles are already.
So Baezu has already told us in the second post which mafia roles are in the game:
In post 2, Baezu wrote:- The undead role are Zombie, Witch and Ghoul
This means (If i'm understanding this right) that the mafia has looked at the townie power roles and decided they want the 2 specific roles. (Putting aside the generic goon which is called "ghoul" in this setup)

- Zombie
Will always resurrect the next day if lynched. Can only be permanently killed by other means.

- Witch
Basically the mafia rolecop.

(Please explain to me if i misunderstood something.)

Are you attacking me for lacking the ability to detect sarcasm? Aside from that, my issue is it feels like you're punishing those who read the setup.

Looks like it to me, although there are a few other cases where the zombie can't resurrect (after being lynched in LYLO or if they're the last scum). Also, this means that town have 6 points worth of roles, which could be relevant later in the game, when we get to claims.

And more importantly, you're acting like not reading the setup is a town thing to do. It's not towny, it's bad. Maybe town do it more often but it's not something to reward, ever.

Punishing is a very strong word for it when we're on page one and I'm voting someone who didn't do what I'm 'punishing' people for doing. It can either be a towntell or someone faking a towntell and I was considering the second of those.

I feel like bolding words 'Look at me I'm so town' isn't exactly subtle.

I understand what you mean about promotes poor play as a principle and do agree with that. Somewhat a problem with games that involve pregame decisions only by the mafia.

Almost 14 days left before deadline. How much of that time are we using before the lynch i wonder? Seems a bit hasty to start voting already so early, but if it puts pressure on players i’m all for it.

Good stuff and insightful- ok let's do mechanics then

So based on what the wiki says we know that town has (scum PR points + 3) so whatever combination from the setup table that adds up to that,
I don't think this is the time to speculate about TPRs, but I think it's telling that nothing that messes with a cop or a strongman wasn't chosen

Also let me just UNVOTE:

My 2 cents
- Not picking a ghost/immortal = no priest
- Not picking bansher = no protective (healer/WH)
- Not picking avenger, and picking a zombie = no vig shot
-
So 6 points = trickster, Angel, enchantress... huhhh and of course simple PoE doesn't work

Scum knows what they are. Town doesnt.
We're at a disadvantage so like... trying to rely on a protective when there isn't one in play is bad.

I'm trying to catch up
