The fruit are actually pretty much designed to be neutral. The benefits gained are roughly equivalent to the drawbacks.

It has nothing to do with the strength of the fruits, it's just about what they do (concentrate a lot of power in the hands of few players) and what they don't do (provide information). I do think the game is unbalanced, but that particular complaint was about why it's not fun, independent of the balance.

Several fruits provide information. We’ve seen two Watcher fruits, there’s a Tracker fruit, an Informed fruit, and a Rolecop fruit, the latter of which is going up for auction...now.

This fruit will grant the consumer a 1-shot Rolecop ability.

B) The Informed fruit is the hands-down most powerful fruit in the hands of Town. It’s the only one I seriously considered just never offering. Fortunately, it hasn’t been rolled.
