I thought the movie was bad until they got to the Sith planet. Then it became Phantom Menace bad (at least its still better than attack of the clones). When they kissed I couldn't stop myself from audible groaning.

Kylo being obsessed with Rey, and there being some kind of connection between the 2 doesn't mean its a romantic connection, or that Rey was obsessed with Kylo. They had literally 0 romantic chemistry.
Kylo's arc was shit. You can say it was shit because the 2nd movie didn't do enough setup for how the third movie wanted him to turn. But I'll say the third movie wanted to be derivative of the original trilogy so needed their bad guy to redeem and a new big bad. The 2nd movie did an excellent job of setting him up as someone that was completely unredeemable because he already saw himself as the good guy. He was the big bad.

In post 77, Nero Cain wrote:I have like zero issue with this and makes sense from a strategic viewpoint. General Finn used to be a stormtrooper and was a ground-based fighter. Llanna (I think that was her name) and her Endor tribe are horseback riders so it made sense that they would be on the ground team that ends up attacking the star destroyer.
There are two things. It makes sense when you only consider in universe details. Someone cast and wrote it though. Those real people decided to make all those people that are going to go on that mission the majority of the black people.

To me it feels like they intentionally created a black love interest for the black character and intentionally stuck them on a side mission together. Its not only the casting I'm objecting to. Finn was already part of 2 love pairs, FinnXRay which got minor lip service in the form of him almost admitting it to her when he was about to die, and FinnXRose which was completely sidelined(some might even argue a third subtextual one in FinnXPoe). In a movie moving this fast I have no other explanation for creating a new character.

When I was watching the movies I assumed the healing (life transference?) was a dark side power. Rey could do it because she was obviously tapping into darkside powers, this also explains why Ben could do it immediately after his turn to good, and why the Emperor could drain the life from the other 2. I remember Palpatine saying something in Episode 3 when manipulating Anakin that the jedi didn't have powers over life or something. I seem to be the only one who took it this way though. Did anyone else?

I think it sounds pretty bad still. I think bringing palpatine back is probably better than introducing a new secret sith lord behind the sith lord. I really think Kylo was done with following old people after the last jedi though. He and rey were each setup to forge their own path, but rey should have done so learning from the past and kylo doomed to repeat it.
