Guys, he's acting jestery, like we all should be. Sheesh.
Smooth as silk when he's scum, and very much capable of running things from behind the scenes while appearing to be doing minimal effort. - Almost50

But if people act jestery, wouldn't the mafia want to night kill them?

I still don't get the purpose of acting jestery. It detracts from the mafia's jester-hunting, and our scum-hunting.

I might re-read some more to see if

Agreed 100%.
It is too much of a distraction and accomplishes nothing.

People don't see this for some reason...

My instinct tells me jestery=scum but I don't know what to think.

It also gives the jester and excuse to act jestery (and end up lynched) because everyone else is doing it.

Skruffs wrote:If I were to choose, I'd prefer a Jester lynch day one over a Mafia lynch day 1.
Was that a typo? Because that makes absolutely no sense.
Actually it was. Obviously I would prefer to l ynch Mafia over town, and town over jestser. I guess what I meant was that I'd rather lynch the jester day 1 and have mafia lose the game, then I would rather lynch mafia day one. But I'm kind of an underdog for the unique roles in games.
Kmd4390 wrote:Skruffs, are you saying townies won't act pro-town?
No... I'm not. Townies will be Townies. I'm saying tha ttownies should act like jesters. Jesters will act like scum, and scum will act like townies. Townies acting like jesters screws with the mafia nightkills, making it more likely that they will actually hit the jester (who is acting like scum, remember?) The jester inherently wants to be lynched, not nightkilled, so acting the way a jester would act will freak the jester out and out him. SImilarly, the scum are trying to act like town - if everyone else is encouraging them to act like scum, they will either freak out, or act like scum and slip.

Some one who is pro-town must be scum? This makes no sense.
I did not say "Someone who is pro-town must be scum". I said that if scum are trying to act pro town and the jester is trying to act like scum, then the correct course of action is to lynch the pro-town acting players; they are more likely to be scum than the pro-town players who do not know any better and thus are incidentally acting scummy.
Yes, scum will appear to be pro-town but so will townies. You can't lynch a player just because they are pro-town.
Please point to examples in this game to back up your point of the players who are acting pro-town.
Also, a jester lynch over a mafia lynch??? Are you serious??? A mafia lynch is ALWAYS good. It is our goal to lynch mafia!!! A jester lynch LOSES THE GAME.
FOS SKRUFFS
See? If you think I am the jester, you are not going to vote me. The jester will not act protown, and the scum will. So lynching protown ACTING players, leads to a more likely chance of lynching scum.
Crazy wrote:I still don't get the purpose of acting jestery. It detracts from the mafia's jester-hunting, and our scum-hunting.
If the mafia successfully find and kill the jester, what excuse will they have to act scummy? None. The entire schematics of hte game changes. The mafia are not going to hunt the jester until it is closer to LYLO; they are not huunting the jester day one.
Unvote, vote: Crazy
The last two times a player pushed the idea that scum would hunt for opposing scum, both of those players were scum. There is never any reason to think that the scum will act pro town and try to hunt scum; if you actually believed that, you would be trying to vote the players who are acting pro-town, and not the players that are acting scummy.

If we lynch the pro-towniest of players, the jester has to act protown, and that makes it more likely that he can be shot, correct?

I am not saying act jestery the ENTIRE GAME... but for the first day or two it is a sound strategy.

Skruffs, I am reading your posts and in my head, disagreeing with EVERYTHING.

If you put this idea out, the jester is not going to act like scum. The jester is going to do what gets them lynched.

If we all act jestery and won't vote each other, the scum will do the same too. How the hell do we lynch some one when everyone is acting jestery?

It's like having an extended random phase which gets us nowhere.
I think that is exactly what scum would want.

vote skruffs

So a player with a mafia role is less likely to act "pro-town" than a player with a townie role is? Does this mean that the inexperienced players and lurkers are more likely to be mafia?

I'm just trying to see how you think the game is setup; there is no reason to think that someone, getting a mafia role, will say "Darn now I have to act suspiciously"....

As people talk, they slip. For now, Jester seems townier. If he talked a bit more, he'd be more likely to slip if he's scum, and thusly have me revise my opinion. No mafia remains pro town all game. It's practically impossible unless you have really stupid townies.

I tend to agree with this for the most part. The only thing is...scum aren't the only players who "slip". Townies will say something that looks scummy, get called on that, and defend it horribly leading to a mislynch. I know I've done it.
