the item has an effect, which will become evident soon enough
it has the potential to trap scum if they dont figure out how to play around it

we both received fruit and both were or should have been ascetic, but something prevented it going through.
implies scum have powers that ignores the stickys or smth. idk
or the stickys just dont work in the usual way
