Maria likely gave her PR to LLD, which made her more capable of influencing the thread.

From this, I gather 2 things: 1. Maria and LLD are probably not S/S because strong associations like that are something scum players subconsciously avoid. 2. If Maria's PR transfer was voluntary, it implies it was done at a time when she wanted to be able to influence the thread, meaning she had a motive to do so at specifically that time. Maria scum could easily have continued hiding behind the peyote line for a while longer, since there was no real pressure on her for it.

Ironically, despite the fact that you're right and Maria's masturbation was inherently scummy, I want to lynch specifically her less now than before. Before LLD conftown, Maria lynch had the capacity to shed light on LLD (scum flip being moderately clearing) and multiple people (Or maybe just LLD?) had mentioned an association with Ari I wanted cleared up.

There's a town motivation to what she did in addition to your proposed scum motivation. Town Maria knows that she's town, so an investigation on her is personally useless. Forcing the investigation on LLD makes sense if she scumread LLD or simply thought she could argue her way out of the lynch. It's roughly the equivalent of Yolo hammering the counterwagon instead of claiming. High risk and very scummy, but not an outright scumclaim.
