First we don't know if being cured is actually possible other than what you're saying. Sure it makes sense but not confirmed.
Second, since wincon changes upon being infected, I don't know if it's possible for infected to claim.
Third, don't know what happens if you target scum.
Fourth I can't remember offhand who you replaced so don't know whether to believe the claim anyway.

Responding to something else -- scum know who they infected (tried to infect), given infecting someone is a factional ability.
