If we have to wait for all the players and the mod to be online to answer questions, it will slow the game down even more. because if I play a card I can’t, same thing, so what’s your solution to that?

If you want to see what cards you can play, just add the tokens you have in each gem to the cards you have in each gem.

So at the start of your last turn, you would have had 3 diamonds, 3 sapphires, 2 emeralds, 3 rubies and 4 onyxes. Any card that you meet the requirements for you can play.

Spoiler: Ethical / Game Integrity

I would consider the question, "Can I legally play Card X?" to be a valid question for the moderator. Similarly, I would consider "Can Player Y play Card X?" to also be a legal question that I could answer if asked. Effectively, "What cards can I play?" or "What cards can Player Y play?" is equivalent to asking this question once for each card in play (plus cards in hand, if any; if a player had a secret card in hand, I could not answer a question of "Can Player Y play Secret Card X?", but that'd be the only exception). Asking it in a broad form once is certainly more time-effective than asking the question twelve times per turn. So no ethical issues that I can see.

TL;DR: I don't see an issue with this from an ethical / game integrity perspective - other than the case of a player having a secret card in hand; I could not state whether a player could play their secret card or not.

Spoiler: Practical concerns

This is where things get stickier. As the game's moderator, I am obliged to provide correct, honest information when asked for information that a player is entitled to have. Shortcuts that I might take as a player, I can't take as a mod - I need to double-check everything. When a player takes a turn, I don't normally need to consider, "Can this player play that card?" unless they actually try to play it. In that case, I have to check: cost of the card, player's cards in play (to apply discounts), player's tokens, and do the math. Doing that once per turn only on turns when a player plays a card: no problem. Doing that twelve times per turn or more, every turn, whether the player is playing a card or not: a bit more problematic, especially after all those double-checks.

During the day, "a bit more problematic" is really all it boils down to, as I'm on PC then. Weeknight evenings (from a Pacific Daylight Time perspective), though, I'm on a device - and that slows down turn resolution quite a bit, especially at this point in the game, where everyone has a bunch of cards in play. Plus, evenings in general are when players are most likely to take their turns (just because of how player+mod schedules / time zones line up) - so slowing down game resolution even more during the most active part of the day could really bog things down. If the primary concern here is keeping the game moving, I think doing this would slow things down more than it would speed things up.

TL;DR: This would take quite a bit of extra time to do; I think doing this for every player would result in the game running notably slower, especially during the times where the game is normally at its fastest pace.

Spoiler: Accessibility

If we were playing this game in person, we could try to modify how we place the game components to make it easier to figure out how affordable a card is at any given moment. We could try to tweak the interface to make the information in general more accessible. I've been considering some tweaks already for the next run of the game (if there is one); feedback and suggested improvements for the interface is always a plus.

One possibility would be: combining the "tokens on hand" table with the "cards in play" table - something like this:

Where the "Discounts" line represents the discounts you get from the cards you have and the "Tokens" line represents the tokens you have. This would make it easier for this hypothetical player to see that they have a purchasing power of 2 Diamonds, 4 Sapphires, 0 Emeralds, 7 Rubies, 4 Onyxes (with 1 Gold on hand, so any one of those could be boosted by one.) - and then compare that against what the shop has.

Downside to this is that it would make auditing much more difficult - verifying that a player's point total is correct. I could counter that by keeping the card list intact *and* adding the discount line to the token table, but I'd be worried about causing confusion by having *too* much stuff in the player panels. Upside is, it wouldn't be that much extra work - changing the tables is a once-ever thing, and updating discounts is basically changing one extra digit every time a player plays a card.

Theoretically, I could add a third line to the table as well ...

I like the table at the end which includes buying power. As you said, it wouldn’t take much extra work and vastly cut down on many potentially illegal moves that you then would need to have to correct, which would definitely slow down the game and that is actually what I was actually asking for but didn’t obviously express that clearly. This makes it clear exactly what options each player has each turn, which is essentially what I wanted.
