If you picked the black chip, your bag would contain 1 black chip, the same as everyone else. However, only the black chips in your cauldron at the end of the round will count for scoring.

Blue chips are good because they basically mean that you can look into the future, see what chip you're going to draw next, and redraw if it's a chip that you don't want.

Orange chips don't do anything, but they're still a positive since they take up space in your bag, which means you're less likely to draw a bomb.

Red chips go well with orange chips. You could draw a red 1, but actually move forward 2 or 3 spaces depending on how many orange chips you've drawn.

Green chips can get you rubies, but it's not a guarantee. Nobody got a ruby from a green chip this round. But, like orange chips, they're cheap and take up space in your bag even if they don't get you a ruby.

Black chips let you move your start token and potentially get a ruby depending on how many of them you have. Since everyone else has 1, they probably won't help you this turn unless you get lucky, but if you want to have more black chips than Farren and Felissan, you have to start somewhere.

If you just drew a bomb and then drew a yellow chip, you get to put that bomb back in your bag, and it no longer counts towards your potion exploding. And even though you're putting a chip back in your bag, you don't have to go backwards in the cauldron. However, if you draw a yellow chip and the last chip you drew was not a bomb, nothing happens. And even if you put a bomb back in your bag, you could end up drawing it again.

Black 1 / Orange 1 - Black 1s pay off if you draw them and at least one of your neighbors (Felissan, me) doesn't. Right now, both of us have a Black 1 and you don't - which means if *we* draw our Black 1s, we get a payout for sure, since you can't draw one to block us. Taking a Black 1 gives you the chance to stop us as well as the chance that you draw it and one of us doesn't. The downside to Black: it's expensive for a 1-chip, and since Felissan and I already have them, there's a chance you draw it and "just" stop us rather than helping yourself directly. The upside to Black: it pays out in start position improvement (and rubies, if neither neighbor draws one), and getting just one of those once is the equivalent of drawing a free 1-chip every round for the rest of the game. Also, stopping us makes it easier to keep up with us. Buying the Black 1 leaves you enough for an Orange 1 - which is one more not-a-Bomb thing to draw, and that's about it (without Reds, which you wouldn't have).

Blue 2 / Orange 1 - This would add a 2-chip to your pot, which moves you two spaces instead of one when you draw it. It also lets you draw two chips risk-free - but you can only keep one of those two chips; the other goes back into the bag. (You can also throw both back into the bag, if both are bad.) And again, gets paired with the harmless but non-explosive Orange 1. Upside: it gets you a 2-chip, and helps mitigate bad luck. If you're willing to play with some risk, it's more effective (especially with Greens in your pot, which you have) - blues are at their best when you draw them while in danger, IMO. Downside: if you're wanting to play cautious and always bail at the first sign of trouble, Blues aren't quite as helpful. They'll help extend the time before danger, but that's about it.

Red 2 / Orange 1 - Also adds a 2-chip to your pot. Reds get a movement boost if you already have Oranges in play, so this is basically a more powerful version of the choice you rejected in Round 1. If you'd picked Red 1 / Orange 1 in Round 1, doing Red 2 / Orange 1 this round would have comboed very well. That being said, it's still not a bad choice this round. Upside - this is about pure cauldron progress. Downside - it doesn't do anything else.

Yellow 1 / Blue 1 - Yellows provide a different take on risk mitigation and progress. If you draw a Bomb, and then *immediately* draw a Yellow afterwards, the Bomb gets removed from your cauldron and thrown back into your bag - without losing the progress the Bomb gave you. Upside is, there are few things more satisfying than drawing the Bomb 3 and then getting rid of it with a Yellow. Downside is, the Yellow has to come immediately after. Draw a Yellow first, or draw it after drawing a Blue or an Orange, and its power is wasted. Yellows + Blues don't really work well together, either. They're both risk-mitigation, but they kinda cancel each other out? If a Blue draws a Yellow, both have wasted their power.

Green 2 / Blue 1 - This is effectively the same choice as you made in Round 1, with a more powerful Green chip. The extra power just means extra movement, not extra Rubies. Green and Blue work well together, if you're willing to take some risks. It'd build on what you already have - concentrating instead of diversifying. With Greens, concentrating is more about increasing your chances for getting a Ruby - but Rubies are another path to improving your start position.

Underspending is an option, but not one I'm going to delve into.

The main advantage to keeping your Rubies: if you use your Potion and have Rubies on hand, you can recharge it at the end of the round by spending the Rubies on that. So saving a pair for Potion recharging can be useful.
The main advantage to spending your Rubies: you get one space of extra progress in your Cauldron every round for the rest of the game, which potentially leads to more Buys and VPs.
