Tbh, the map seems to show that the kitchen and the black smiths are in the same room, they're just different doors.

The south rooms lead to a winding stair case that seems to be a dead end. Or immediately drops us into a dungeon, either or.
The north seems to allow us to enter the area on the second floor.

Might as well go to the food storage first. If we can/are forced to back track we can probably use whatever we get from the food storage in the kitchens. Then go to the blacksmiths before advancing.
If we can't back track we should probably just go the right way, which seems to be the food storage/stair room on the north side.

I concur, want extra food if given that we're so squishy

although admittedly the random monster encounter chance when resting makes me feel like the 1 hit point regained isn't worth it if we'll have to fight again every 1/6 times

the rules say the map is not necessarily complete, and you're expected to fill in the details, so don't assume rooms are connected just because there's no wall shown on the map
