I just looked and have tried not to read other posts but my thoughts are:
BELL -> STRING -> TUBE / LIFE
logic:
Bell — a telephone can sound like a ringing bell?
String — like wire
Tube — is there an expression like “heard it on the tubes”? Or am I nicking that from a sci-fi show or something? Unsure on this
Life — phone a friend is a lifeline in who wants to be a millionaire and idk what else phone could clue
Apple is a good point, but also seems like the sort of thing Farren could easily overlook the connection with (as I did and I think lili did initially too?) so while I think it’s got good chances I’d prefer not to lead with it

I think Bell should be an earlier pick than game. I like robot because of robo-calls. Apple's also decent (not something I would have thought of, but then, I don't have a cell phone, so my first thought was with land lines). I think I'm at BELL->ROBOT->APPLE->TUBE/GAME
I'd slightly alter Marashu's list and go BELL > APPLE > ROBOT > GAME, leaving TUBE off. I think TUBE is too much of a stretch this early; I associate the term more with CRT televisions or YouTube more than telephones. STRING is worth revisiting if one of those four is not ours, though.
