Right now I am suspicious of the PGO claim. It's an easy way to hide a completely different role and never be discovered at night.

My follow-up: Did you really believe, during game, that people's rolls are the same as the roles they received?

My understanding was the the rolls would be different from the roles, but then there partial similarities with my roll and my role and I thought I must have gotten it wrong even though it would make no sense game-wise.

I panicked because I have been waiting for so long to get a town role (I made the tragic mistake of picking up many replacements when I joined to be a good citizen but they were all scum roles). I haven't been keeping track but I would guess I replaced/rolled scum in 8/10 of the games I have played and I would really like a chance to play as town for more than one day. The only reason I still join games is for a chance to play as town. I've been a good sport and played all those scum games which I absolutely hated.

A lot of players are talking about James. He's very upfront about being into mech talk and to me, that suggests that this is how he rolls and it's not alignment indicative for him.

After James said that this is what he enjoys about the game, some players didn't back off and I would consider that suspicious.

This is the post I am referring to, where James is digging his heels in about loving mechanics. Now, hear me out, I have almost no experience playing town, so take it with a grain of salt, but his mechanics Ted Talks seems very earnest and useful. They don't appear to be thrown around as a distraction. They follow a stepwise, natural course of inquiry. Can someone explain to me why this is scummy?

redtea posts a lot of nonsense and asks questions without follow ups, especially recent posting but his earlier posting is solid and legit, he's probably pushed by scum. Thor is the worst and some of his posts have a cult feel. His role is interesting, he doesn't know how to use it, we probably should eliminate him today for that etc. The wording here "If you want to vote me out because you think scum will recruit me" really pings me because he says scum instead of cult. It's a sign of deception.

I regret not vigging Thor, I changed my choice from Thor to T3 in the middle of the night. Now I'm smacking my head over it.

I have a theoretical question.

Would my play have been more optimal if I had crumbed that I was going to vig SirCakez and Thor? If Thor was PGO, would I have successfully killed him? Would people be able to figure out what happened?

I would be surprised if Thor is actually a PGO, I don't believe it. Players seem to think that scum would have some interest in eliminating a claimed PGO during the day. I understand this. But what is the play if the PGO claim is not credible?

I don't understand what the hang up is to eliminate Thor. To me it's obvious that cyrus faked rolling a PGO so that his partner Thor could credibly claim it as his role. I see everyone pulling in different directions trying to form wagons away from Thor when the most obvious scum is staring us in the face. Is there some strategy I am missing? All the other pushes today are for flimsier reasons. My working theory is that another cyrus partner is steering us subliminally away from Thor.

nero and robert don't seem to have an inkling of suspicion but maybe they do for all I know

My (very limited) observations are that suspicions and wagons often ignite and grow in a stochastic way. Players talk each other into scum reading or town reading certain players and the scum is happy to lend a hand if the mod lands on a townie, or if they feel it might be advantageous to throw their partner under the bus. Gamma has been very good at providing a steady stream of unambiguous opinions. He is putting himself forward, scum reading some players that are widely town read (if Gamma was scum, he could easily go with the flow and not rock the boat).

I find that he is rocking the boat a lot, maybe that is the reason why others find him scummy? I'm probably wrong, we'll see after the game, but my gut tells me that rocking the boat is something that town will want to do, not scum. I haven't had the opportunity to play town much myself, so take it with a grain of salt.
