Betrayal At The House On The Hill

A Party Game for 3-6 people.

General Game Rules

Obey all site-wide rules.
Don't say/do anything that would get you site-banned.
While we might not be all humans at some point, please do treat the non-humans like a human, ok?

If it is your turn, you must submit the action within 24 hours. I will try to update the action as soon as I can. If you do not submit in that time, I will prod you and you will have 12 hours to submit before I replace you.
Follow the spirit of the rules; if you think something is against the rules, it probably is.
If I make a mistake, please tell me.
I reserve the right to update these rules as I see fit.

Things I'd like to make explicitly known

Discovering a room that causes you draw a card ends your turn.
When you draw a card, you may instantly use the effects of that card.
We will be playing with the Widow's Walk expansion. This means the number of haunts is 100.
I will be running the game on Tabletop Sim, but the game will be played within the forums. While I have the physical copy, this will make it easier for me to send screenshots, and keep stuff going so I don't have to keep a physical copy of Betrayal setup at all times.
This game can be ran with 3 to 6 people. I'd prefer to run it with 5-6.
We will not be doing the Seasons of the Witch haunt.
Upon a failed haunt roll, the thread will be locked for 24 hours to give both sides to strategize adequately.
Dead players may continue to comment in any threads they have access to pertaining to this game. Being dead does not mean you lose access to posting. If you are one of the heroes and you die, I strongly urge that you continue helping your team. If you are one of multiple traitors, and you die, I strongly urge you help your team. If you are a solo traitor and you die, I strongly urge you try to mess with the heroes.

Not that big of one IMO. The biggest learning curve is just figuring out what you should be doing in specific situations and that's about it.
If you get put as traitor on your first go-around, it can be very hard, but most people I've taught this game typically understand what to do after like, a few minutes of playing?

Since Missy Dubourde's birthday is the closest to today, (February 14th), Cat Scratch Fever gets to start.
As a general ease-of-explanation thing, please state what room you want to move into in the following method(s):
If you wish to move to the room to your left, please state you'd like to move left or move west. If you'd like to move to the room on your right, please say you are moving right, or east.
If you'd like to move into the room in front of you, state you'd like to move forward, or north. Backwards is behind/backwards/south.

As well, please state what rooms you are going through if you have to travel through multiple rooms. This makes it easier for me and others to understand. I will try to make a better map at some point.

As well, all players are allowed to freely talk while the game is going on. Death does not remove you from the game.
Spectators, feel free to ego after I add you to the PT, but do not give the players any advice! That is all I ask!

For dice rolls as well - please roll a number of d3 equal to the stat you must roll for. A result of 3 is counted as a zero.

Something you can use to get out of here alive, whether it's with your friends, or by yourself...

The second you enter this room, you can hear your footsteps echo out across it, and you accidentally kick a rock further into the room. You can hear it falling for what sounds like ages, and then finally hit the bottom. You look down, and into the inky black chasm in front of you... Better not fall in...

Upon trying to resolve Cape's action, I have realized I made a small moderation error in setting up this haunt. I have consulted with a list-mod, to try to determine what I should do. The error does not radically change anything in this haunt, and does not give any side an unfair advantage in my eyes. For sake of fairness however, I am announcing that there was an error. Going forward, this error will not happen again, and post-game, I will be willing to disclose what the error was, and why it happened. Until then, the haunt will play out like this, since this impacts the game in the least detrimental way.

Cape's action will be resolved in a moment, I just need to type up what the room is, and the corresponding card.

When you step into this room, you get the distinct feeling nobody's been in here for ages. Unlike this mansion which seems to retain signs of use, even though nobody's been inside for as long as you can tell, this room in particular looks abandoned. At least the spear in it might prove useful to defend yourself.

Yes, I will let you keep it. Don't make a habit of it, or I will ask for re-rolls. To be fair to everyone, I will let you mess up the dice tags once, and let you keep it if you do so. If you mess it up beyond that first one, I will ask you to re-roll, just to be fair.

Normally, as well, you would have to attempt a Speed roll of 3+ to exit this room without losing stats; however, since you are the traitor, you get to ignore this! (Unless you really wanna attempt the roll for some reason. It doesn't give you anything if you pass.)

You enter this room. It feels... safe. Holy. Like a room in the mansion where the horrors of this place are for just a brief moment - gone. But reality quickly sets back in, and you remember where you're at.

1) All monsters of the same type share the same speed roll. So all specters that are let in will have a speed of 6 for this turn. If it was a specter and some other type of monster, (like a zombie), they would have different speed.
2) Mizzy opens the windows in the chapel, and a Specter enters the mansion with a speed of 6!
3) The Madman will path the following way: Dusty Hallway, Charred Room, Entrance Hall, Open Doors, Foyer, Grand Staircase, Upper Landing.
4) While in the Entrance Hall, the madman will open the front doors to the mansion and let a Specter into the mansion with a speed of 6!
5) All Specters that entered on this turn

may

take their turn like normal.
6) Mizzy failed the event, and lost 1 Sanity.

You're good! You're being attacked with Sanity, so you'll roll whatever your sanity is, (currently 3.)
So you'll roll 3d3-3.

For damage as well, whatever the difference is, is whatever damage is done. Since you're fighting a monster, if it takes damage, it'll just be stunned.
If it deals damage to you, you take it in either your knowledge, sanity, or both.

Revolving WallThis one is very long, so I'm going to surmise it. Basically, there's a revolving wall. CSF automatically goes through it, and draws a card in the new room for discovering it, and can decide which side it goes on, but this revolving wall cannot be attached to a door. On an explorer's turn, they can attempt a knowledge roll of 3+ to use the door if they are in either room. Moving through it in this method doesn't count as moving a space.

Armor

It's just prop armor from a renaissance fair, but it's still metal.

Anytime you take physical damage, (not just once per turn), you take one less point of damage.

This item cannot be stolen.
