A vengeful townie does not get to use their vigilante kill if an opposing faction achieves their win condition by said townie's elimination.

In shorter/clearer terms, the game ends the moment a mafia faction achieves parity (or the moment all mafia have been eliminated). If that happens through an elimination, the eliminated townie cannot "save" the loss by in turn shooting mafia, because the game has already ended.

Until a win condition has been reached, vengeful townies who are eliminated can shoot or not shoot at their discretion.
