I disagree with your assertion in 199. The point of it was to say that there is no tell, and likewise, the meta arguement being used is bullshit. I don't have any reason, nor desire, to actually discuss it in anymore depth than "this is a fallacy, ignore it".

Welcome to the correlation does not imply causation fallacy! The issue here is there is no bloody way to tell between what a

. Saying that something as benign as greeting the thread is correlated, and hence caused by being scum is legitimately just this meme.

Vanilla Townies tend to be more engaged in a game, and thus, want to participate more. That would genuinely be a proper conclusion to have -- the bastardized version is legitimately ice cream sales cause shark attacks.

- I just don't find this line of reasoning convincing. Besides having not really found that post very suspect in the first place, you're basically proposing here that a scum T02 would have "slipped", not realizing that he was using his informed minority status in a way that would be very obviously readable to any townie. I find this unconvincing for three main reasons:

1. I genuinely do not think T02 is that incompetent. Yes, this is approaching WIFOM territory, but it's a feeling I have regardless.
2. I don't think locktowning TTTT would be the optimal scum play at all. Like super far from it actually. At that point there was a decent amount of suspicion around TTTT, and I think scum would %99 of the time be wanting to both keep their options wide for a miselim and be able to push FoS on TTTT (who is town in this hypothetical).
3. Even if they did assume you were town that is not necessarily indicative of them being scum.

194 is a decent catchup post. I'm a little tempted to join Aspho on voting the less active slots just for some new discussion but will hold off since IMO inactivity is reasonably explicable at this point by easter.

I beg of you all, drop the greeting the game scumtell discussion. I don't know why T02 brought it up again.

Italiano, please front-load your reasoning a bit more so it doesn't have to be wrung out of you over the series of half a dozen posts. I don't know if this is part of your "strategy" but it is getting old.
