It makes the posts easier to write, it makes it easier to avoid faking interactions and it makes it easier to monitor the thread carefully and double check everything your saying. I get the sense that Solway is monitoring the thread very carefully and is being cautious in what he says and I think that combined with lurky + unusual activity in the thread in response to what's happening is more likely to come from scum.

Still rereading the thread since I kind of stopped on page 22, saw this and think it's still super relevant.

Random catch up stuff:

I've looked back at hpe and some of the wishy washyness I fel about its reads might be because of its posting style. Im not seeing what I was. I'm not loving the throwing around of votes but again it might be a style thing.

Re: bbt and lost - I was saying that in that game you collected scum reads for some fairly poor reasons, and you were town. A consensus scum read on you is a really easy place for scum to hide. I personally think you get more readable as either alingment the further we go in the game. You played with klick recently as town and he thought you were scum but by mid game I was like 'no, town'.

Eir I was scum reading because their posts didn't leave an impact on me, but now they've reached out I feel better.

I have not lurked. My activity patterns are based on my schedule and how much I have to do during the day. I have lots of time now to catch up, and that is what I am doing. Tomorrow I won’t be able to post in the evenings, but I will be able to post for in the mid-afternoon but only in the mid-afternoon. That’s just a consequence of my schedule.

I have never been as verbose as I have this game. In fact, I always try to condense my posts into the highest possible density. I’m using this game to see what happens if I flesh out my ideas in the thread as much as I possibly can.

Here in the present, I think it's pretty clear that even though Solway isn't necessarily stuck in "long catchup posting" mode, he still isn't really engaging with the actual flow of events in the thread. And if this is the most he's able to flesh out his ideas, I don't think I'd be able to read him at all if he posted the way he normally does.

Tone, reaction, vibes, etcetera. This one simply thinks you're acting like scum in it's eyes based on the what it's seen from your bouts with TSQ. If you wanna argue against that, go ahead, but it probably ain't really gonna change this one's opinion on you and the situation.

This is just more buzzwords, you're very clearly struggling to explain this read.

I disagree with a lot of how tsq wants to play as well, which is really obsuvring my read on him.. originally I felt that they were 100% commited to their stance on bbt but I just don't vibe with their approach at all.

Or HPE, really. Solway just has the most momentum right now though, and I think his behavior as the phase winds to a close isn't indicative of a villager.

TSQ is tricky, and one I'm going to save for last because there's a chance that I'm just scumreading his playstyle. He's not someone I'd feel good about misreading and killing off.

Good scum tend to want to have justification for what they're doing. Town just throws out reads as they occur to them,

The result is that townie progression often looks way messier than scum progression. Scum players tend to not throw out reads that they can't articulate with justification because they want their progressions to look good. Townies don't care about that.

Psychologically speaking I find messiness to be way more town indicative than scum indicative.

At the very least, I definitely do. I'm way less likely to do that as scum. If I can't articulate a good reason for why I feel someone is townie, I'm gunna just not say anything. If that person is my partner I'm probably more likely to try to bus them than try to defend them.

This gets a little messy when talking about me in particular because obviously I am aware of this and purposefully try to do stuff like this as scum to match my town game, but I think a lot of people don't. I therefore tend to think that just random assertions of towniness without a real justification are just way more likely to come from town.
