Spoiler: My rule

The first letter and last letter come from the same half of the alphabet (A-M or N-Z). = Yes

For example, "Have you ever been to Peru?" = No because 'h' is in the first half of the alphabet and 'u' is in the latter half.

My first hint was that "Are you sure that this isn't a prison?" = No was the closest to having a different answer at the time, because it ended in the letter 'n', which was one letter away from being in the first half of the alphabet (e.g. "Are you sure that this isn't a prism?" = Yes). Likewise, "Am I an arsonist or a pyromaniac?" = Yes was farthest from having a different answer because the 'a' and 'c' are both so far from the middle.

My other hint, "In order to answer these questions, I have to be aware of the first half and the second half." was deliberately worded in an awkward/vague way and it sort of has a double meaning.

I tried my best to come up with a rule that was unique and attainable, but not obvious. In hindsight, my 'proximity' hints probably didn't help as much I anticipated, given that you kind of have to know the rule in order to understand the hint. Sorry about that.

I'm happy to pass it off to whoever wants to go next.
