So I should preface this with the fact that the reason I decided to scumcase Ranger is that I got really frustrated of this gamestate where every time I vote someone for being scummy then I'm told that my vote sucks and I should be voting elsewhere. So I said to myself "let's try to do some crazy scumcases and see if anything sticks". Then CCS randomly accused Ranger of lying so I decided to try it on Ranger.

With that said, here's the scumcase:

1. Ranger has been using hyperbolic language when pushing Cook, saying multiple times the cay

that Cook is scum, even though they base their evidence on speculation that we have no way of confirming regarding the role groups.

2. Ranger has explictly stated they wanted to fake claim, and then said that these statements were a breadcrumb to their role? Except I don't really see how it breadcrumbs anything.

Sadly, you're missing critical facts. I've not claimed miller in any past game. I breadcrumbed my role heavily as well. I might not have

shared

these breadcrumbs; they're very obvious when you search. I was on a lookout specifically for negative utility roles to remove their negative utility.

Hilariously, these were breadcrumbing my actual role. My "wait until you see my fakeclaim" was actually my cheeky way of hinting at my real role.

I remove all passives and modifiers from my target. As I said: a

direct

counter to Cook's role, as well as a role which would bypass the limitations on Theta Alpine's role. All it’d take for Theta Alpine to treestump town is my removal of her modifier.

Thus my skepticism of both.

As I said, I’ll fullclaim when I’ve the ability to properly paraphrase.

To give the full claim. I'm a passifizer. During nights, I can target a player. All passives + modifiers stop functioning until next night. If I use it, I investigate as scum that night.

Mod clarification:
To benefit from my role, the player needs to be able to act already. A 1x cop who used their shot on a previous night, despite having the 1x modifier disabled by me, wouldn't be able to successfully submit a cop action.
My targets aren't informed of my success.
Scum chat/kills, and day votes/talking, aren't impacted.
If I used my action and flipped, I wouldn't be considered a miller posthumously.

Okay! I did the deed. I don't think this was a very good scumcase though so I'll move onto step 2 of my plan and towncase Aureal.
And then I might scumcase Meuh and/or Snivy and/or Katy, but hopefully we'll have a lim on Cook by then.

I guess I'll indulge DragonEater and talk some about why I'm town reading AniX. It's on the longer side (mainly because I wrote too many words and less because of the number of points I'm making), so I'm spoiler-ing it.

Spoiler:

AniX started out Day 1 with a very high mechanical focus (and arguably continues to have a large focus on mechanics.) While this could be construed as scum trying to hide behind mechanics to avoid scum hunting, I get the opposite impression from AniX. For instance, AniX did a good job explaining why DragonEater's action/role could be scum indicative in 220. You don't necessarily have to agree with the reasoning here (or the conclusion); what matters is that AniX is using the information AniX is collecting about roles to determine alignments. It's an unconventional approach, but AniX gave a good explanation about why it's a viable and perhaps worthwhile approach in 601 and 1071.

We then have the whole no elimination suggestion from AniX. Once again, this is something very easy for people to give a surface level of take of "no lim is bad and is only suggested by scum", but the way that AniX went about this is town. It is town indicative because AniX clearly explains why in 1955 is viable and directly gives a counterargument that explains why the traditional argument against no lim doesn't apply here. This is again a case of "you don't have to agree with the reasoning", but the motivations behind it ring as town-aligned. AniX isn't bringing up no lim because AniX is scum thinking AniX can fool us into it; AniX brought it up because AniX believes it is an optimal play for town, and that is town indicative because it shows that AniX has town interests in mind.

I expect some of you will be, "But surely scum AniX could do these same things!" That may be true, but I don't think it would come to the same depth. Scum want to avoid doing things that attract unnecessary attention, and scum also like to have more wishy-washy stances so that they can backtrack more easily later in the game. AniX has taken firm stances here and provided solid reasoning behind them (again, you don't have to agree with it) to support that AniX isn't doing it just for show but because AniX believes in the stances.

2. I get that you can't read everything, but out of the things you read, what made you scumread RN in particular?

I'm comparing RN here to RN in the game I've played with him that just ended (viewtopic.php?sid=&f=83&t=91199&user_select%5B%5D=37068)
RN is a LOT more self-assured there, and holds stronger beliefs. Now this may be partially an activity thing (he seems to have been busier during this game than in the one I'm referencing, so he'd have less of a grasp on the game) but I don't think it justifies a gap this big. The only thing he takes a strong stance on and shows confidence in is activity not being indicative of alignment, which is always a really easy point to make and specifically serves the purpose of defending himself here. The idea that the game doesn't "start" for him until day 2 and he has a hard time engaging on day 1 doesn't line up with him extensively engaging on day 1 in that other game. The fact he leans on this as extra justification (rather than just being busy) reeks in my eyes. He also just has out there takes and isn't afraid to push them in that game. He did a bunch of work to put pressure on the most widely townread player there, entered conflict a bunch (in a way a lot less passive than here, the only time he gets aggressive at all is when saying that activity is NAI)
A lot of RN's commentary in this game also seems to be NAI beliefs that he holds more broadly. The aforementioned "activity is NAI", his thoughts on massclaiming, points like these:

I don't think I agree with "this trait Town, this trait Scum." Game's more complex than that.

Also, I touched on this already but it feels like his posting is made with the purpose of appealing to others. This isn't always scum indicative (I do it as town sometimes when I wanna get read accurately) but I think for RN it is. In the other game, even under pressure, his posts were never made with the intent to make himself just look good. In the other game he's having independent ideas brought to the table and his posting is with the motivation for himself to solve the game and push his ideas forward. Here he just gets through the chore of making some very inoffensive comments on some posts and moves on from there. He's not posting for himself, and that probably just makes him scum.

The Tommy Edman game is a bad frame of reference, btw. I said there that I brought back 2021 Meuh for a reason, there's a distinct obvtown vibe there that I usually don't go for. It's annoying cause it feels like the town games I play either:
1. Barely factor into people's meta on me because I got mislimmed early for not obvtowning
2. I make a deep run/leave a stronger impression, and now people expect me to obvtown every game
and it just goes around and around in a circle. I'm trying to break that perception, so you won't get the transparent spamposty Meuh that was in the endgame of the recent Pokémon game or during like the entirety of the Tommy Edman game.

Cook's been the lead wagon for the entire time I've been pushing her.

DKKoba proposes a Random Nurse wagon, which has some support (mostly from the scummiest slots in the game), and Meuh joins the efforts there.

This is not the level of analysis a town-Meuh shows, and Meuh's vibes are completely off.

RN is obvscum though, like it's the main thing I feel strongly about here.
I've mentioned before that the case on Cook seems good, I'm planning on planting my vote there soon
