More specifically I found it towny because it came after 506. The two scum motivations for voting shaddow in 512 that I can think of would be that either you want to pocket Dannflor, or shaddow is town and you want an excuse to vote him. The first motivation is possible, but I think if you were scum you would have been more LAMIST there as it is possible, if not probable, that Dannflor won't understand or think about the fact that his 506 could have been the catalyst for your shaddow vote. The second motivation is also possible, but if you were thinking about voting shaddow, you could have voted him before Dannflor made 506. In other words, to vote shaddow, you wouldn't have needed Dannflor's approval in the first place.

Going back to your original case in 706 I find this very interesting.

The way you go about it feels as though you find the arguments both absurd but also are genuinely concerned about them, which is where I derive the "caught for wrong reasons" conclusion from.

Because when Elements scumread Skygazer for her reads being fake, she responded with this:

I did townread you before, but as shadow shifted up I felt I wasn't getting those distinct town vibes from you anymore so I found I was more unsure about you.
I don't think you're neccesarily scum, but I think that if Kurta flips scum, you will almost certainly also flip scum. You've basiclaly been townreading and defending Kurta the entire game, and since I've never seen Kurta in such a towny light I just don't buy what you say.

I think my issue is I've got some people that are prob!town (Titus, knot, shadow, Dan, Jupiter y), some people I'm conflicted about (you, aisa, T3) and then a mess of people who I don't have a very strong read on: k, othe, camel, sky, probably more people because i forget they exist..even writing this jusy now I had to swap projects name for Jupiter! I don't know whether it's better to go in my conflicted pile or the ton of what are essentially null/scum/I just don't vibe with this reads.
