my response to her is to ask her what would Town!Ari in a the world where Ari is town be doing instead?

this is to see if she's actually thought things out about muliple possibilities and decided ari!town would be doing this and ari!scum would be doing this and because ari is doing this then she is mafia.

It's very easy to say behavior A is scum motivated because of ___ if you don't really consider what a person does when they're town.

@Afrayed Knott How do you usually go about finding reads in mafia games?

First day for me it’s a mess unless something pings and doesn’t work out in my mind. Or doesn’t feel right. Then if I make it to D2, which has been a rarity for me, I look at any associations I might see or look at any solves that might start to appear. I’m fairly new to the game so it’s all still a learning process atm.

I guess what I'm asking for is when you read this thread and say you stare at it and its dead. what thoughts come to your mind about each of the players?

whats memorable? whats not? which post feels like scummy and which post feels townie to you?

you are in a hood of six, one of which is mafia, if you're town then which of the five others do you suspect the most? which of the five others do you think is unlikely to be mafia? why?

like this isnt a court of law, the things we say could be right or wrong but it doesnt matter so much as we're actually doing something because if no1 does anything then whats the point?

im sorry if this feels overwhelming but I'd appreciate it if you could spend some time on each player and just jot down whatever thoughts come to mind.

if you don't have the time for every player, you can do one per day and be done with all 8 before the deadline.

But in reply to Ari, I was not the one who said the thread was dead, I agreed with the comment. As for your post at 251 and 252 ok, that’s you and Oppsie discussing how you play from your game experience with each other. I can only take that into consideration going forward. There is only one player in the game I have good game time with and that’s Dann, I have a little with Project and even less with Meuh. Dann is being his usually self in my experience and provides very little to me this far to take him on with. Project was the butt of a reaction test and has said little else. As for Meuh I don’t enough to make any analysis of their play. So for

I vaguely recall Afrayed getting pushback on his approach to the game, similarly to here, in the game we played together
His posting so far hasn’t stuck out to me as different from the town gameplay from that other game
Do want to look more into this meta later but rn I’m not really feeling this wagon

i just remember looking at the thread a few times and wishing someone would do something to move the game forward and then she did

so that maybe made it feel extra towny to me

I think if I am scum and I am presented with a dead game state I tend to view that as an opportunity to take control of the game and/or get town cred. Not taking action usually just hands the initiative off to a townie who is willing to do it instead.

Dang just noticed I missed this thanks to Ari's post this page.

It's difficult because what I read in 83 and 91 was scumhunting but scumhunting with an ulterior motive behind the posts. 83 & 91 were on the surface just posts made to keep a scumhunt focused on a specific set of players, allowing it to be easier for people to sort. Issue is I read them and also saw scum motivation in pushing away from the idea of limming in your hood, keeping yourself safe and having a much easier time getting a mislim off in the bigger pool of players.


For what it's worth your posts this page have eased my concerns somewhat. Wasn't an initial fan of the Afrayed push but post 253 clearly outlines a thought process that is objectively pro!town, poking/prodding more passive players to participate in the conversation and provide reads. Not impossible to come from mafia but good for game health as a whole.

In terms of big hood:
Meuh - Read very well to me at the start of the game. Had some nuanced insights into setup stuff that I appreciated.
Dann - Played one game with before but am getting great vibes from the slot again, feels easy to bounce off of his thought processes. Could be the mythical "Dann deepwolf" but for now I'm considering him town
Jupiter - Response to sudden vote out came off very uninformed about the game so my gut read is town. Obvs this isn't perfect but with nothing else from the slot it's all I've got to go off of right now. Hopefully they come in soon with some big insights.
Afrayed - I think pressure here has done it's job. I don't think Afrayed will be able to conjure up any more reads thanks to the votes on em.
