The deaths due to Black Death fell much more heavily on the lower classes than on the wealthy, who could afford to just move away when Black Death took hold in a city, village, or rural estate. Everyone else were stuck in place, had little help, and were decimated. After it was over, labor shortages were so extreme that crops were left in the ground to drop, despite the farmland owners offering to share the crops 50/50 with laborers. Peasant wages went way, way up, and didn't come back down to pre-plague levels.
