Dan certainly shouldn't be telling us which one he is, because then Kira knows how to kill. And while I do share your concern with potentially a gambit to bait a CC, I think we just go with it for now, and Assistant should NOT actually CC yet. If Dan is a follower, Kira can't be certain enough to risk NOT killing imo. If Dan IS Kira he'll obviously live, and real detective can CC after checking for secrets tonight.

I never understood why Dan was being voted in the first place. I didn't see anything scummy from him and he was a null read. I just know that he was suspecting two of the same players just like my slot was earlier.

I think if Erinys was a follower it would either back down from Dan or counter claim him. The fact it's pushing him without a counter claim suggests it's just a regular taskforce member who really believes Dan is scum.

Seriously, I've looked a bit more into him and I feel like Dan is probably on the level. I can't really get into his head even so though, so it's hard to know what to do here.

In the moment, I feel worst about HPE's reactions here. I don't get calling Dan obvscum at all, and HPE seems to be paying plenty of attention to the setup so I feel like it should know there's nothing particularly obvious about the truth if someone claims like Dan did. There's no certainty, but without a counter-claim I think we're in the world where we need to take it at face value. But then I also worry about

why

there's been no counter. Are all the scum tied so obviously together they don't dare counter? Or are they so confident in the gamestate that they don't need to take an unnecessary risk?

It is obfuscating. It does not have much to lose and has no equity in CCing regardless (Klick / Gimli would have had a better shot). I do not care how much emotion is baked into the posts, the thoughts and words it espouses is plenty incriminating. Let's hold it accountable to them.

It is clearly more nuanced than that cynical response; "lashing out at the Hydra" was not unique to HPE. The complete read is the summation of the middle of 491 and parts of 534. If you look at the bigger picture we have someone that originally stated that they were fine voting a policy elimination until something better comes along and yet is reduced to a mere sheep by close to deadline with little in-between aside from mere platitudes.

The circumstances of the scumteam and flip-less eliminations make it more likely, not less, that scum would "unionize" as you describe if they can find each other. Gimli and Klick voting you only significantly decreases the likelihood that you are Kira, nothing more. Now you can argue that you being an obvious follower candidate would certainly poison any wagon you join, but I think I was probably the one wagon that would not have dissuaded others from joining close to deadline.

Y'know what, I went back a bit to look closer at the outburst from HPE and saw this and it's... actually correct. I did feel like Dan claimed sliiiightly prematurely at four votes but three is... yeah, I can see why HPE is upset and suspicious.

So I just don't feel comfortable going along with Dan's reads at this point, given what I saw looking at his posting it feels a little too much like a ploy now. He might be on the level. But also maybe he's Kira and his followers haven't been able to get much traction defending him so he's resorting to this (which would make the replacements more likely candidates for them I guess). Or (probably even more likely) maybe he's a follower who's been planning to go out in a blazing attack and hopefully draw information on the detective, and the assistant was savvy enough to not be baited.

Given that uncertainty, I feel like the safest play here today is going to be to avoid voting his strong reads in either direction. Hopefully tomorrow we'll have some more information to work with. So I'll VOTE: Hu Tao
