Worst role ideas?

A better role is a lightning rod like role that instead of redirecting all roles only redirects the one that you target. A redirect to self role. Anything that affects all roles is a bit overpowered.

Super Assertive Cult Leader

This role may target as many players as it likes. Its action attempts to recruit players into its cult.

Recruited players get a choice of whether to join or not. If they accept, they become part of the cult. If they decline, they do not join the cult, and learn the identity of the cult leader.

That's one way to do it, you could also have them become an informed minority w/o a kill or simply unconvert them (say with the leader dead, his influence goes away). The reason people don't like recruiting is that it changes their faction, there shouldn't be any other bad things that happen to them besides that (your faction changes and if the who did it to you dies, you die too and autolose the game ).

The role's probably been mentioned before, but when I play face to face, we almost always have a

Silencer

. The silencer is Mafia-aligned, but doesn't know who the Mafia are. The Mafia however, are aware of who the Silencer is. At night the Silencer picks any player (he may target himself) to Silence. Being silenced means that the targetted player

may not speak

at all during the following day. In face to face, where a day lasts minutes instead of weeks, it is great fun, and very versatile. On this site, having a total post restriction for a full game day would make the game a lot less fun, I imagine.
