+1 shaft.ed.
Barring a reputation for notoriety, didn't just about everyone from the early days of MS get a title after enough time on the forums? Seems like it was almost an effortless thing then. What changed?yabbaguy ~ Winning without actually winning.

If a player does something once, gets a title, and never does it again, does that make sense? If we're just going to grant titles based on the norm then is discussion even necessary?shaft.ed wrote:

The point of such titles is to commemorate some sort of interesting thing that happened in a game. Like Oman's title for example. Pretty sure he hasn't claimed NK Immune Miller Vig again.Ythan wrote:

The points of discussion in these cases IMHO should be
1) was the event remarkable
2) is the title "witty"
3) could it be done better
-1) Getting 4 straight hammers, three of which were scum seems remarkable enough. Lord Gurgi got a title for four failed NKs as a SK before. Similar concept, though a little weaker. So I would tentatively check this box.
-2) The guys username is Sharkfinn for cryin out loud. It's perfect for the title Hammerhead. So yes, this is "witty" and to me more than compensates for the slightly weak 1)
-3) I don't think you can do it any better. So it's either this, or dump the concept.
I can see an argument against this being remarkable. But I don't see why they need to hammer everyone at every turn in order for it to be an applicable title.
And why do I feel like a lawyer before the Supreme Court needing to look up case history for a title thread?
This should be fun.-

I like Hammerhead.
I also agree with shaft.ed that a lot of great titles are going to be one-game deals. Sure, sometimes players have a "thing" that stretches multiple games, but a lot of memorable events are memorable precisely because they were spontaneous."Don’t buy a dozen eggs if you just want a hardboiled egg. Don’t buy a head of lettuce if you just want a salad. Don’t buy eggs and lettuce if you want egg salad because those are not the right ingredients." -Julius Bloop-

shaft.ed's post 35 is right on the money. I think Hammerhead is a great title so I'llNthit.[ooc][color=black]patrickgower2006 (8:12:03 PM): all beer tastes same to me

Well, if we only give titles based on continuing quirks, then all we are doing is encouraging title-seeking people to adopt an obnoxious abnormal style of posting for the sole sake of earning and/or justifying a title. *cough*haystack*cough*Ythan wrote:

This is an old forum legend and has always been wrong. More 'old' scummers have titles because they've been around longer, but there's still onlyyabbaguy wrote:+1 shaft.ed.

CONTROVERSY:
Nominate dramonic for Big Gay Fluffy Owl
Second word is obvious.
Other words are av-based, but I can attest that all of dramonic's avs since he joined have been owls.
Not punny or deeply meaningful, but it was previously acknowledged in some thread or another that forumgoers identify him as precisely what the title says.Everything you say and do matters. People will respond in ways you may never see. May those responses be what you intend.-
