I'm a little late to the (end-)game, so I'm gonna keep it short here.
First, thank you all for playing and making this quite a special game. Not always easy to folllow, but never boring. I'd love to play with all of you again, you've always been active, no personal attacks and followed the rules just swell. I'm not worried about anyone of you, you're well-equipped for a successful mafia career. Special praise, of course, go to glowball, who almost pulled off the win against quite some odds (e.g. the IC and both SE's were town which is usually tough for a a Newbie scum team), and Ranmaru, who looked at every detail and analyzed his own and others' reads over and over, even though glowball was considered town by the majority of town.
Since all of you already did a great job at pointing out the excellence and mistakes in your fellow players, here three little things that I think will help you with your game:
1) Wall-of-texts: I'm pretty sure, you know that it got out of control here and there, but especially Day 1 became messy at times. Two main things here:
- Don't try to convince your scumread that he's scum by answering and re-answering everything ad nauseum. He will never, ever agree with you no matter how hard you try. Attack the points you think are scummy, show those things to others and leave it at that.
- Don't make huge walls pointing out connections between players if none of them have flipped. It can very well happen that you wasted a lot of time and energy presenting a case on two players connections with each other and then they both flip town. Make yourself notes if you some suspicious connections and only after one of the players has flipped scum, go back to these posts and present your evidence of a possible scum team connection.
2) Vote count analysis: This goes out to wierdalexv and glowball.
- Don't use multiple vote counts if nothing changes in between those counts. That's repetitive and boring for others to read and will not reinforce your initial point.
- Only use the vote counts you think are very telling. You want to bring your point across that you think you have found scum. Don't use vote counts where your suspect is voting unsuspiciously (not on the counterwagon of his buddy, non-voting, etc.)
- If you're town, approach the VCA impartial. Especially wierdalexv's vote count seemed too biased. He basically called every single vote of glowball scummy, not matter what she did. If someone's vote is neutral, admit it, scum don't always mess up their votes. Calling every single vote by someone scummy is scummy.
3) Nightkill WIFOM: This is for glowball. Night kill WIFOM is vastly overrated and almost never worth trying it. I've been in the situation myself and made the same mistake and I think almost everyone does it the first time they have to decide whom to take into LyLo. But if someone called you scummy before he will probably not gonna change his opinion the next day, no matter who got killed. Because it can be argued either way. In your specific case, if you had killed Ranmaru, Prosaurus could've gone into D4 and be like "Well, why would Rhinox not kill me? He knew I was suspicious of him. Maybe it is glowball after all...but wait, Rhinox must've known that I would be wondering about the night kill and maybe he expected me to change to glowball based on the NK. Ha, nice try, Rhinox!" See, it's just that: WIFOM
But if anything, that should give you more incentive to win the next game
Well, it got longer than expected after all, lol. Anyway, thanks again for playing and for saving Mobsville. See you around, guys!
