Rules (format and majority of rules shamelessly stolen from Juls):
Game Mechanics
1.)
Votes must be
bolded
or contained within vote tags and in a form similar to Vote: Playername. If I do not see your vote, it will not count. Unvotes are nice but not required.
2.)
Unless it is explicitly stated in your role PM that you can do so, do not talk about this game outside of the game thread. All players who are allowed communication outside of the thread
must wait until the moderator states in thread, quicktopic, or PM that communication may commence.
3.)
Lynches require a majority of votes (50% of the active players +1). If a 50% + 1 majority is not reached by deadline the game will progress to night with no lynch.
4.)
Voting for
No Lynch
require only 50% of the vote to occur.
5.)
If a lynch occurs, the game enters twilight and players may continue to talk in thread until it is locked and a lynch scene is posted. No votes/unvotes will count in twilight.
6.)
Once you are killed/lynched you may have a single "bah" post consisting of the word “bah” and that’s it.
Deadlines/Activity
7.)
Deadlines for each game day will be 2 weeks.
8.)
If a replacement is required within the second week of a deadline period, 24 hours per RL day it takes to find a replacement will be added to the deadline of the current day.
9.)
Treat this game as a commitment. If you are going to be V/LA please post in thread or send me a PM.
10.)
Players must post
every 48 hours
(unless they have noted V/LA) or they will be prodded. Weekend days count as 12 hours each. An excessive amount of prods during the game will result in a replacement. Players may request prods of other players at anytime but I will use my discretion when sending these types of prods (I won't be your personal spam-bot).
11.)
If a player fails to pick up their prod within 48 hours they will be replaced.
12.)
Each night will last approximately 48 hours, during which time all night actions must be submitted via PM.
General
13.)
All Mafia Scum Rules apply in this game. Please read and obey them.
14.)
Have fun and be respectful to your fellow players.
15.)
Do not speak about this game outside of the thread unless your role specifies that you may do so.
16.)
Do not quote anything from the moderator that is said outside of this thread (including role PMs) or pretend to quote anything from the moderator. Paraphrasing is allowed but if you are questioning your paraphrase, run it by the moderator first.
17.)
If the moderator makes a mistake, please address your grievance
in bold
in thread or in PM. Please point out vote count errors in thread only.
18.)
Do not edit posts. Do not use invisible text. Do not use small text.
19.)
Do not use cryptography.
20.)
Purple
is the moderators color. Do not use it.
21.)
The moderator reserves the right to add/change/delete rules. If this occurs, a notice will be posted in thread.
22.)
If a role PM or other game rule is misunderstood by the player or a rule is not made completely clear, the moderator reserves the right to correct the rule or PM based on its intent. The moderator guarantees that changes or corrections of these nature will be considered for overall fairness and game balance.
23.)
Most importantly, play to win. Gamethrowing will not be tolerated.
Game Specific Rules
1)
This game has partial no reveal. This means that character name and alignment color only will be posted. The color
green
will be what is typically considered to be town. If you are color-blind let the moderator know so he may state it more explicitly.

The thirteen of you (a magically unlucky number) have assembled outside the Magic Castle, the repository of much of the history and lore of modern magic. Outside the beautiful Victorian building lies the broken casket and remains of Harry Houdini. Who would dare do such a thing to both the remains and memory of the world's greatest magician? And why would they do it? The only thing clear is that it is a portent of something very dark indeed, a threat to the Magic Castle and the way of life of the average magician.
Day 1 will begin when 11 of the 13 players confirm via PM
With 12 of the 13 players having confirmed I will begin D1. Shift will have 48 hours from now to pick up his PM and confirm/post or I will seek a replacement.
@spring: Why lurk? Is actively playing the game not fun for you?

I don't really like RVS, so I've composed some questions instead, I would like them answered as they can help me scum hunt.
1)
Of fire and ice, I proceed.
From my cage I have been freed.
The cage of flesh and bone,
with what I once forbode.
What was in your cage?
2) Some prefer logic, others their gut, how say you?
3) Are you one who anticipates the enemy move, or one who reacts to the enemy's moves?
4) In a world where you could never be criticized for being wrong (because no one would know that you are wrong) would you lie more often than normal? Would you speak your mind/do things more than normal?

Don't mind me, I'll just lurk till page 10.
Are you serious? It isn't pro-town to intentionally lurk the first 10 pages of the game, I really do want you to answer the proposed question by the way.
The melody of logic always plays the notes of truth.

1. Hell
2. Gut, backed up by logic
3. Got to react first before you know what to anticipate.
4. A wise guy's always right. Even when he's wrong, he's right

1) stop trying to be creative
2) false dichotomy
3) I make the enemy react
4) I speak my mind quite often now...well pretty much all the time, so no to the latter question. To the first, that seems like an unrelated issue since lying is an ethical choice more so than being correct or incorrect.
I don't really like RQS but I know some players like to throw fits when someone doesn't answer your questions. I'll save you some time and a mislynch this game.

In most circumstances logic but this game is special. It's a game all about tone and reading intentions. Your gut is your most powerful weapon in this game.
In post 9, Junpei wrote:3) Are you one who anticipates the enemy move, or one who reacts to the enemy's moves?
React, too lazy and incapable to anticipate movements.

Would probably lie as it suited me because I'm just the typical selfish human being whose morals fall apart if there is nothing obliging you to follow them.
No, I have not. I've played with Amrun, and I've played with springlullaby, but not with anyone else in this game.
Why do you ask?

Don't let the join date fool you, I flaked out of all my games except 1 I played terribly in a few months back (First games) and then restarted recently through hydraing but was mostly gone due to vacation and in one case timezone difference. But that is a complete null tell, as for my posts that's not really up to me to decide. How a join date can hint at your alignment is beyond me unless you're suggesting my experience level, which I can tell you is experienced at mafia but still adapting to forum mafia.
4nxi3ty wrote:@shift, are you trying to say you'd rather avoid interactions between players like saulres and junpei?
Not them in particular as some people understand my point of view, but I'd rather not gamble they do with the consequence being 5 pages of stupidity and time wasting if they don't.
