Yes. Let's just do Free Market for everything, like on the GL.

Are there too many lists?

The moderator waiting lists are an ever-evolving thing. With a fresh start, I thought it would be a good idea to once again poll the membership for ideas to make the system more fair, more smooth, and less confusing.

If you select Yes (or No, for that matter) on the poll, please post any suggestions you might have.

*sigh* Well, I'm most of the way through my automated waiting list code, but I've been so busy I haven't quite finished them. It will be relatively easy once I finish it, but no guarantees when that will be.

I voted that I like them as is, though I am certainly enticed by jeep's auto-list thingy.

The automation doesn't really have much to do with the nature of the lists, it'll just save us all time. :)

Why are some of these moderator lists and some moderator/player lists? Where do people sign up to play normal games? I'm assuming that this was just a misnomer?

No - remember that mods start individual sign-up queues for their bigger games.

What about the free market themed games? I thought they got signups in that thread.

Personally, I think that seperate sign-up threads are a better idea.

I agree. It's much easier for people to moderate lists for their own games in separate threads than to have the List Mods keep track of everything.

I think in the free market section, people are responsible for keeping track of their own game signups anyways.

They are; the intent of keeping them all in the same thread is to avoid the mass chaos that is the GL Free Market system. We can try it the other way though, with the list just having links to all the individual threads.

what is the need for a section called "Queue". Why not just put the signups in each respective section. Wouldn't that create less clutter and such? Sorry if this has been discussed before.

thx

I guess it's simply a question of distribution of clutter. We can either have all the sign-ups in one place, or each individual forum can contain both games and sign-ups. Before the crash, anyway, I always liked the pristine look of the Sicily forum, where the only threads were Mafia 1, Mafia 2, ..., Mafia n. If we moved normal signups there, half the threads would be signups and half would be games. I like the aesthetics the way they are.

I really liked the old way where each mod started there own thread. It seemed much easier for me to figure out who was taking sign ups, how many people had signed up and who. And I could tell from just looking at the thread titles what the theme was and what I wanted to sign up for. IMHO

well, mini games always signed up in their own thread. itspretty easy, just /in for next when you died, constantly starting games.
theme minis is simple as well.
the only problem i can see with theme free market is if say theres 4 games offering sign ups, and signups explode, everyone starts signing up, then sign up posts might be missed in the clutter.
but thats unlikely to happen so i figure its a pointless worry on my part :)
and listed theme and normal games still have their own sign up threads.

How 'bout we just say: It's up to the mod. All I ask is that if you start a sign-up under the Free Market system, you post the description there as well, with a link to your sign-up thread. Perhaps putting (Free Market Theme Game) after the title or something would be nice as well.

hmm, hate to sound like macros the annoying whining prick. But gl free market is cluttered looking, and with the 5 lists stickied at the top this forum would look pretty hectic.
imho of course :)

Respect my authority!

I mean... I think the Free Market system will be fine, once I remember to link the front page to each post that contains the actual sign-ups. The mod will be responsible for going through the free market thread, looking for signups... and I will be responsible for looking for new games, whacking others with my mod stick, and updating the front page when I desire.

I will let you know when it gets out of control. But that time will never come. Heh.

I don't like waitinglists, bu it gives everyone a fair chance of modding a game (though some people are waiting for ages.).

There's really no reason to change the format we have now, i guess.
