So there was a disagreement on whether or not I paid this month's bill. I remember going to paypal and doing it, but my lack of receipt + nothing in my bank statement saying I've done so leads me to agree with them
Anyway, by the time I found out, they deleted the server entirely, and now I'm wondering if I want to keep doing this or not.
AlyG: If he's not a joke account then what is he? He starts bandwagons on himself and insults other people.
EDIT:
Also, I have a server of my own that I use to experiment and mess about. It only has 6 slots, but if UA doesn't want to bother anymore we could use mine. I never saw more than 1 other player on the ms.net server so normally it would suffice. And if we have a recent backup I'll upload it to that server. Thoughts?

Is your server in your home computer, or hosted somewhere? Well, I think with the rapid pre-release cycle, some people are opting to stay out of the servers until the release (I know I am). I think we are going to see an increased number of players after the 18th, so maybe it would be best to go with a hosted solution.
I'm indifferent to start a new world or keeping the old one. If UA has backups, we can put that to a vote.
It's a hosted one. It's a 1.8.1 server which will upgrade to 1.0 when released. It doesn't bother upgrading to the prereleases which is nice. So if we were to use it, I'd wait until Minecraft goes gold.
Add for donations. If the number of concurrent players doesn't increase dramatically, then I wouldn't mind paying for it myself.

I've also made my peace with losing the world.
I would expect everyone to want to play more after 1.0 is released, and especially if we're going to start a new server more people might be interested in starting from the beginning. I know when I first got the game I remember times when there were 3 or 4 others on with me all the time. I think the slowdown happened after the rapid pre-releases started coming and everyone sorta decided to wait for 1.0. I know I haven't been on at all since pre-releases started rolling out but I did plan to jump back in full force after 1.0. I don't know what this means as far as our server needs, but I'd be happy to help out with costs as long as there's an easy way to do it.
I'm also ok with starting a new server. A lot of you guys did build a lot of awesome things and it'll be sad to see those things go, but it'll also be fun to be a part of starting our new city from the beginning and recreating or making even better things.
I don't care for the money or donations unless of course the prices are unreasonably high. but in that case I'll ask for someone pitching in.
If we decide to use my server I'll upgrade one plan (I think that's 10 or 12 slits) and we'll see whether we need more spots or not. Upgrading is trivial and fast so it's easy to upgrade.
So, when I'm home tonight I'll look into upgrading and I'll do so this weekend when Minecraft goes gold. Any seed suggestions?
My favorite is the seed "numbat": http://i.imgur.com/mYH96.jpg
It has all sorts of biomes nearby, including a large ice biome, a large mushroom island (black), and a good-sized, but not exaggerated, ocean. Remember that the exact spawn point can be easily edited in the save file.
EDIT: Don't check the image if you are an explorer who doesn not want to be spoiled
About the only preference I have for spawn is I really like the harbor town spawn we had. It would be nice to have water/boat access to spawnville. numbat looks just fine but might not be fair if you know where all the dungeons and strongholds are already

Well, there is no information about dungeons and strongholds in the map, so no problem in that front
So, I think after Minecraft 1.0 comes out and the new server is all situated whoever hosts it, I'm going to celebrate by concentrating my effors on building a minecraft snowglobe to celebrate (it is that time of year, after all, and will probably take me a month to build anyways )
