It's not time wasted. I want discussion. You want blind voting. Sorry, I'm not going for that. Because then we'll start passing bad rules.

It won't pass Xalxe, because everyone has to also leave it alone for two cycles.

Two cycles is a LONG time. Good luck with the threats though. That's working.

I seem to be the only one in this discussion willing to be flexible.

I would also like to state that not every rule needs time to discuss. Sure, a lot of them do, but a rule that goes from unanimity to majority, and then super majority LATER (likely within three turns instead of twenty if this passes) does not.

You guys have already made clear to me that you will block any attempt to change it to a supermajority later. Therefore, I have nothing to lose by prolonging my effort.

Tell me, what is there to discuss about? What benefits of a supermajority are there? Anyone building an alliance of six people in this game really needs to get their pritorties in check. This is Nomic, not Survivor.

But even if I agree you can still block it so, what's the benefit of me voting Yea for something I don't want?

What else would you need to see?

Just ftr, expecting promises from 5 other people like that is unlikely. You have 3 votes right now. You, me and JDGA. I'm sure you can convince three people.

I'd also be prepared to vote for a proposal that needs more than simple majority. We need this passed, though.

302. An amendment shall be made to Mutable Rule 204. The words "the vote is unanimous among the eligible voters. If this rule is not amended by the end of the second complete circuit of turns, it automatically changes to require only a simple majority." shall be replaced with "a simple majority of the eligible voters vote in favor of the rule change."

Okay, my proposed rule change, which shall be 'Rule Change 303', shall commission the roles of Honourable Record Keeper and Lowly Vote Jockey. These roles shall be cyclical, and be passed between players at the same rate as proposal control is passed.
The Honourable Record Keeper shall be given the duty of updating the wiki with all successfully passed rule changes (as keeping with the template already in use) for the period they have the position. They shall have the period of 24 hours immediately following a rule change's successful passage to enter it into the wiki and complete their duty. The reward for doing so successfully is one additional vote in favour of their next proposal. They shall only be greeted with the utmost of respect while they hold the position, and they shall be referred to as 'Your Honour'.
The Lowly Vote Jockey shall be charged with maintaining an up-to-date and precise log of all current votes, and vote history (a template will be provided) for the period they have the position. They shall either post one at least once each two pages, or once each 24 hour period. The reward for doing so successfully is nothing. They can be glad to just shut up and do the work they were given. They may be spat upon at will, and will likely not be referred to at all, unless they somehow blunder the one simple task they were given, like the wretched gutterbrat they are.

Obviously, nothing is solidly set yet. I'm inviting any critism, suggestions and questions that are to be had. There are details still not formulated, after all.

I was thinking that each will be passed at the same rate as the 'rule-maker' position, but staggered along the list. So, as a possible example:

Player List:

  • animorpherv1
  • Chevre
    JUDGE

  • Cybele
    RULE MAKER

  • Feirei
  • JDGA
    HONOURABLE RECORD-KEEPER

  • Lord Mhork
  • malthusis
  • MonkeyMan576
    LOWLY VOTE JOCKEY

  • Packbat
  • Robotnick2
  • T-Bone
  • Xalxe

As soon as the rule maker changes, each other role will change to suit.
