Looks like we're one vote away from heading into night. I'm fine with that too, DRey is the right play today.

That does not mean I would agree with all the points raised against him though, I think some of them are quite bad. For one, I hate SpyreX's idea that if there were two JOATs their abilities would have to be identical. I'm of the exact opposite view, I think their abilities would have to be different so both would have their niche to fill in the game. That hardly matters though, since counterclaiming is in itself a town move. As for Fate, he seems to have forgotten that DRey did in fact credit the Alsark kill to a serial killer in post #1415 instead of mysterious assassins in the night. I would be interested in a clarification on his result on Vi, namely was it indeed specified that he was killed by a scum faction, in other words group scum, or what was the wording?

Anyway, the one part of this claim I find hard to swallow is the random killing ability. I've only ever seen random abilities in my off-site games, and I've always found them distasteful. The outcome of a game should depend on player decisions, not on random.org. I find it really hard to believe that ability would be real, and even less likely that both SpyreX and DRey tried and failed to kill someone on the same night.

I did have other topics to discuss too. For one, I would really like to know why Lady Lambdadelta wants to kill Shmugen. Just because he made the point himself about how the mechanic for passing the key makes no sense if he was scum, it does not make it wrong. We have outside confirmation from kuribo about how passing the key works, so there is no speculation involved either. I believe they are both town.

In the blinding snowstorm and perpetual night, it was difficult for everyone to see each other clearly. But they knew something was amiss with DRey.

"Why does the light seem to reflect strangely off of him?" someone wondered. They all came to get a closer look. "Doesn't he look a bit dark, almost shadow-like?"

DRey took a step back. "Hey, it's me, Lucca! I'm one of you guys!" Suddenly a bright flash of light swept over the area from the nearby dome. Where DRey had been standing, there was clearly a dark, malevolent figure hidden in a shadowy haze.

"Get him!" someone shouted. DRey drew a dull silver blade, prepared to fight back, but the onslaught was too much for him. A multitude of spells and flying weapons sliced him to pieces, which faded away into the night.

As the warp gate closed behind them, the time travelers emerged onto a small island illuminated by the sun in a cloudless sky, in stark contrast to yesterday's dark, snowy weather.

"Wow, where are we?" someone asked. "This piece of land we're on is suspended in midair!" Indeed, a quick glance over a nearby cliff showed tiny clouds far below them.



"Welcome to the Kingdom of Zeal," said a voice behind them. They turned to see a young man wearing strange, almost regal-looking clothes. "Are you with the Earthbound ones? You must be tired after traveling from the surface. Please, come with me to the palace and rest."

They started to follow him, as he led them up a hill. "By the way, we found a most disturbing scene not that long ago just on top of this hill," the man continued. Two other travelers were murdered, and their bodies were found up here. Were they with you?" As they came to the top of the small hill, they saw a strange pile of twisted metal and electronics.

"Hey, that's Empking!" someone said.

"And that's kuribo over there," said another, pointing to the body of a young woman several feet away. Somehow, their enemies had gotten to them during the night.

"Terribly sorry," said the man, "But I suggest we hurry on to the palace. You can talk amongst yourselves when we get there."
