A while back I had the opposite problem, had to use it from the homepage. I dont have that problem now. I was using google chrome.

You launch AIM and click on the link in GD/mainpage. That's all that's to it.
If you want to use Pidgin or somesuch, there's a slightly more complicated way to it - but only slightly.

I'm using something called Beejive which works fine, but you need to be invited to the room by someone.
It wont let you change the exchange, and since the exchange for SC is 5, and the default (I think) is 4, it won't let you join them without an invite.
Once you're in it works fine, though.

Lots of programs have that exchange issue. I don't know why the original scumchatter chose exchange 5 over 4.

i always had problems getting to scumchat without an invite before downloading pidgin, so if you want to join and not bother people for invites it's worth the download.
