how does the irc channel work exactly? does it save our chat logs?

your chat logs are saved anyways in server.log, but idk if the IRC does or not, technically if you stayed logged in and didn't turn off your computer, you could amass the logs for like weeks and years.

Also we should reschedule the R2R! I was ready to get on after I got back from the movie but there was no claus and only a couple people online :(. I think It was probably just too chaotic with the server being down until just before.

klaz if you don't like something about the server, or have a complaint, rather than starting a whole new server and fragmenting the playerbase, and wasting someone's money on the process if successful or not, you could have talked to us about whatever is bugging you before up and starting a new server.


Just curious, was Maestro's map request 100% honorable ,or would that be the map your server is running on, in which case i more than welcome you to take over running the server if you wish, and will put my 3 gigs towards other means.

its not like that. Im just starting a new server for myself, and just inviting people who i thought would like to play on it, thats all. I have no intention of fragmenting the player base. I am and will keep on playing on the MS.net server.

Also, i don't even know what Maestro wanted the map for. i think that he was planning to use it for a event or something. I wouldn't do anything like that. I'd have talked to you first if that was the case- I'm not the type of person to do that.

*sigh* Yes, this is all I wanted it for. I had no plan to ever share the map files except after extensive editing (removing all playability except for whatever I plan on doing with them) and it would not have ever resulted in another place for people to play using our server. Definitely, please, take this to PM's first in the future, Maru.

On that note, however, neither Corin nor I have been able to actually get the friggin' FTP Access to work in practice.
I haven't been able to download anything more than the individual level.dat files...and I'm pretty sure I need those 50,000,000 region files too so that'll be a problem.

If you feel it's necessary, go ahead and remove access, but I haven't done a thing that would be considered dishonorable besides checking up on the FTP Access now and again, using FileZilla and the built-in Multicraft FTP. I only even look at the console to see all the cool stuff that's going on behind-the-scenes.

ALSO RELATED: if a certain map that was going to be a CTF-Style version of our Server's map was put up on Klazam's Server for an event, would people like to play?

And yeah, you need the region files. level.dat stores general information about the world, [player].dat contains individual player entity format, and the region files detail blocks, chunk, tile entities and non-player entities. Data is used for some miscellanious stuff, I don't recall exactly what. So without the region files all you'll have is some general information and the player saves.
