The Ravens are going to the Super Bowl! There's gonna be LOTS of stabbing in Baltimore tonight!

You're my next pit stop to OC.
How many people long for that "past, simpler, and better world," I wonder,
without ever recognizing the truth that perhaps it was they who were simpler and better,
and not the world about them?

That one year it was a huge deal in local media when Baltimore almost had less than 300 murders in a year.

~15 years ago I was at a multi-day training in Richmond with several coworkers. Day one, the instructor is telling us where to go near the hotel to get food and stuff and he strongly advises everyone to not make a right or whatever off the main drag unless "we were packing our knives".

The 4 of us from Baltimore laughed and when he heard where we were from he said, "Except those guys- they'll be fine".

The funny thing is that ad soon as I open my mouth, anyone from Baltimore immediately knows I'm from the lower shore. And my accent isn't even that thick.

I was with some friends in Severna Park of all places and a clerk looks right at me and says "you're from across the bridge, aren't you?" Although he also said I talk faster than most shore folks.

You're thinking hoopers island and crapo. Though I do pronounce it "wooder " as in "lot of the people that live on the island are woodermin." My ex broke me of saying ain't, since her family was of better class.

Yeah when my mother and stepdad were using, they would drive across the bridge once a week because their dealer lived a few blocks over from Hopkins.

Its still a really awesome city, though. It just has its issues like any other big city.
