You just got luck(a)y that newbie, LuckayLuck, as the strategy is flawed. You should always try and lynch the scummiest people and ruling people out early on is only going to set you up to lose. There are plenty of good players who could fool you with ease. Try and keep an open mind, there's no need to rule things out.

I just realized my first newbie game on this site has finished, and I can point to it as a really big signal that I may not be a nutcase. I am a little more subtle since it's a newbie game, but you'll see me demonstrating the exact same actions that I've been doing here.

It's only 7 pages, and townie sweeps by lynching two mafia on day 1 and day 2. I correctly assess two villagers and by process of elimination nail the mafia, which is my style.

It's new interesting way to play I haven't tried before. I've done that ever since I announched that I will start doing so and I shall not stop until game is over or LL is dead.

However I do give my opinions on things and who I suspect myself. If all you care about in reading ppl are votes then I have to say you suck at the game of mafia.

As far as I can tell, MM has contributed very little to the game. MM voted for me, with a little two liner explanation. When I showed my displeasure over that, he responded with yet another one line insult.

And now he just flies over LL like nothing even happened. In the little bit of contribution area I see lurking, and in the hasty votes and name calling I see scummy characteristics.

This is just my opinion, but until Maz shows me something that this has not been his main style of play this game, this is where my vote shall remain.

I think LL's playstyle concept is not a bad idea and could even work

judiciously applied.

Like any playstyle, though, it can and sooner or later will be gamed. I think he is overrelying on it and puts too much weight on the one linchpin of Canuckle's townieness. But I do not think he is scum for doing this.

But keep in mind, LL, probabilities multiply. If you are let's say 80% sure that Canuckle is town and 80% sure based on that that Mariyta is town, you are really only 64% sure of Mariyta, and your next 80% step is barely more than a coin toss. (Numbers provided by Ex Recta Rounded Off Numbers Enabling Outrageous Use of Statistics. ERRONEOUS is fat-free, non-profit and pro-puppies, and guarantees the value of every number they sell.)

N.B. Just because I think he is hinging too much on Canuckle being townie doesn't mean that I think Canuckle is scum. I've seen a lot out of Canuckle that

scummy, and would not be surprised to see him come up guilty, but there are some subtlish mixed messages that make me wonder. I'm not really wedded to my current Twito vote, but I will need to reread before I can decide where it is best placed.

Mm... I can see what double Em (m) was saying though. If you'd take your time to think about it Canuckle, we have one instance in a newbie game. This could be a fluke, and it might only work in newbie games also, because they're not sure what to avoid and such, and are more likely to give off "townie and scum" tells that are a little more..... accurate I would guess.
