Yeah, still slow progress, but it's getting more and more interesting at least.
Small GoT Book Spoiler??????? ( Getting paranoid now )
( Also, interestingly Eddard's leg was shattered by a horse.. not by a spear through the knee )I swear I'm trying my best

Some of the additional (non-book) scenes are great. I liked the dialogue between Cersei and Tywin.
"Perhaps you should try stopping him from doing what he wants."
"I will."
I can totally imagine this converstion occuring between the book characters, but since neither Cersei or Tywin are POVs, we don't get it. I can't wait to see more.
PEdit: In the book, his last words werehim forgiving his son. I also don't like that being cut.-

Ythan, have you learnt nothing from watching that guy with Theon. You build up the hopes before you dash them.In post 1788, Ythan wrote:

Keep telling us what you think will happen next Reck.
But seriously, I'm pretty sure you expect to get most things wrong by now, and you continue to post it, which makes me feel you're being a good sport and I genuinely appreciate it.
Best episode so far in my opinion. Great scene for Arya. My wife made a surprised sad sound when the Old Bear went down, so that was nice. She also made an excited cheer when Dany took control, but she had hinted in the last week that she expected that to happen. She figured Theon's buddy was a plant too, she just wasn't sure who he worked for and what he was trying to get out of Theon.
I'm not loving Varys swanning around being the loudest fucking master of whispers I've ever heard of... because I haven't heard of any other masters of whispers, because, I imagine, most of them spend time being subtle.
I know they have to make it obvious for the screen, I know the book Varys still has a penchant for the theatrical, but it feels like it's over the top here.
I did enjoy his man in the box though.-

Heh, I like speculation! Plus, I understand from your perspective...when I watched all of Lost, then got my friends to watch through, IIn post 1790, Seacore wrote:Keep telling us what you think will happen next Reck.

It's fun for both parties
Speaking of which... totally fucking called that Olenna Tyrell would try to hook up Sansa with Loras. I didn't expect the Spider to be the one to do it, but I knew it was coming (not sure if I called it here or just IRL). Still not sure how to get a read on Margaery. I still think that the Tyrells as a whole are the most fascinating part of this season, and seeing her get Joffrey to go outside to greet the people against Cersei's wishes was just brilliant. Her whole conversation with Sansa...I WANT TO BELIEVEthat she's being genuine, but Margaery knows Loras is a cocksmoker, so she's being quite less than genuine.
Jaime is growing on me, quickly. I'm starting to see why everyone who has read the books loves him. His interactions with Brienne are awesome, and I thought I'd just love the day I saw Jaime getting what was coming to him, but now it makes me sad. Touche.
Oh and can I just sayfuck yes Danyholy shit that scene made me wet myself (ok not really) but holy shitfuck that was badass. Last week all I predicted was "Oh, the dragon will obviously fly back to her" but NOPE it burned bitches alive, that was really awesome. About time we got to see the dragons do their shit. Now, for endless seasons of Dany not getting to Westeros! Huzzah! I really worry that they can find a way to make her feel relevant at all, because it's already getting strained, and I don't see her getting across the sea anytime soon.
In "things I don't give a fuck about" news this week: Fatty McFatFat rescuing incest baby and his pre-teen mother, anything involving the Knight's Watch, Bran having ANOTHER CRAZY DREAM OMFG WUT, Tyrion's squire's massive cock, etc.
In "things that make this the best episode of the season so far" news: Varus gave his backstory and got some pretty badass revenge plan going, Varus was in the episode at all (about to usurp Littlefinger in my heart), the Queen of Thorns being the goddamned Queen of Thorns, Dany's mass murdering dragon fire killing rampage, the whole cave shit with the Hound and Arya (that can only end in badassery), Jaime having a heart, Brienne being Brienne, a scene in which I didn't want to immediately curbstomp Joffrey, and Tywin Lannister: Man of Little Words

I thought Podrick actually DIDN'T have a massive cock, but was just a sex god? Maybe I heard it wrong, since multiple people seem to have heard differently?
I loved the scene where Joffrey told Margaery about the Targaryns women being eaten alive by dragons with fanboy-sadist glee.-

Someone mentioned this on tumblr, and I was glad I wasn't the only one who noticed it on the episode.
Remember when Dany says Valyrian is her mother tongue?
It's not, and I think that line is on purpose; that is, that the producers are not streamlining the Targaryens, but that Dany lied purposefully.
The Targaryens' mother tongue is the Common Tongue. The Targaryens abandoned a lot of traditions from Valyria when they conquered Westeros, and Dany would have been born to the Common Tongue and, most likely, learned Valyrian from Viserys's teachings and/or from the handful of Targaryen loyalists who raised the two siblings. Valyrian is, at best, Dany's second language.
The focus on that scene is not on the exiled uncrowned queen ofWesteros, but on herValyrianroots. Astapor is an old city: it was a Ghiscari colony that was conquered by Valyria and used as a slave trade nexus. That's why the masters speak Valyrian. Old Ghis was destroyed by dragons of the Valyrian Freehold; the Astapori slave masters knowexactlyhow fearful dragons can be, and what the "blood of Valyria" means. In Astapor, and with her Unsullied, Dany does not want to be the little girl from Westeros, but a power in her own right; in Astapor, that means tapping her Valyrian heritage, not her Westerosi-queen one.
Kraznys may well have known she was a Targaryen--I doubt the slave masters do not have spies everywhere--but he thought she had abandoned her cultural heritage. Dany speaking Valyrian and claiming it is her mother language means she wants to conquer not only through fire and blood, but also through history. It's a cunning move, because it gives her an historical precedent: once again, Astapor falls to the hands of "Valyrian" dragons. The other Slaver Cities are also of Ghiscari-Valyrian origin, and this is the might of Valyria come anew to torment them.-
